My absolute favorite Japanese-Chinese restaurant in town!
Umemura truly feels like “町中華” — a warm, family-run neighborhood Chinese restaurant just like in Japan. Their Umani Ramen is hands down the best ramen in California… maybe even in the entire US. That’s how amazing it is!

I also love their Kanitama Chahan (fried rice topped with an imitation crab omelet). Everything is always super fresh, flavorful, and authentically prepared. This place is loved by all my Japanese friends, Japanese American friends, and even my American friends — everyone falls in love with it!

The servers are kind and friendly, and the cozy atmosphere makes every visit feel comforting.
Highly, highly recommended!

EXPERIENCE 1*** (Positive) 07/21/25

My Mom brought me here. This is a place she likes to visit on occasion. Besides Ramen they also have Yakisoba, Rice Dishes, and a few Side Dishes. Mom and I decided to share the Kanitami Chahan and a Side Order of Gyoza. This is a very casual eatery. And, service here is very friendly and easy going.

When our food arrived it was picture perfect. The Kanitama Chahan, which is fried rice layered with a crab omelet covered in sauce, was delicious. And, the Gyoza was a delicate bite, lightly browned and crisp, the filling was light, moist and extremely tasty.

If this type of food interests you, it’s worth a visit. There’s parking in the back of the restaurant.

Don’t let the exterior deter you from what they serve. Crazy to think Umemura has been around for 45 years!

I haven’t been here for a long time, but I am definitely gonna be back very soon. Their Kanitama fried rice is so good, and Umani Yakisoba was also delicious. We didn’t have to wait too long for a table, and the food came out pretty fast after we ordered it. Service is wonderful and the food is amazing, so I will be back soon. The Gyoza is also yummy, and I would recommend this place for your next lunch or dinner.

I first came here around 1992/3. I believe it’s the same owner?!?! Ramen is excellent…and huge portion. Their chahan (fried rice) is also to die for. And their gyoza is also excellent. These are the 3 main things I order every time. We moved to the east coast but every time I visit Southern California, I MUST stop here. I’m so happy that after all these years, they still are around.

It is a very small restaurant…but I like it and the food is what I come for, I could care less how small it is.

Umani Yakisoba is superb. A renowned spot that hits all three marks: cheap, fast, and delicious.

Umemura is one of the ramen restaurants I like. This time I had a cold ramen (hiyashi Chuka) which is only for summer time. They have 2 kinds of sauces, ponzu and sesame miso sauce. I chose ponzu sauce. It was so tasty. But I want to try one with sesame miso sauce next time.

This is my favorite ramen restaurant! I’ve been coming here for over 12 years now. Love love love their mabo ramen. It’s my favorite! It says it’s spicy, but to me it’s not spicy at all. This place is also known for their umani yakisoba which is also delicious. Their portion size is also pretty big! Definitely recommend trying this place. You won’t regret it!

Only downsides:
The parking lot is small and fills up pretty quickly. They also don’t have many tables to sit at, so if you’re going during their busy hours, expect to wait a bit.

Huge portions, not much meat, but broth is thick and flavorful. 21 oz beer + Ramen under $25 dollars. Friendly and not overly attentive staff. Will come again
