If you’re looking for tasty, good-quality burgers, Umbrella Burger is a solid choice. We ordered two single cheeseburgers, one chicken sandwich dressed burger-style, and a side of spiced curly fries.
I’d rate the cheeseburgers an 8/10 — they weren’t the best I’ve ever had, but they were definitely very good and satisfying. The chicken burger was more of a 5/10: it was okay, but I would strongly recommend the beef burgers instead. The curly fries were tasty, and I really liked the dip that came with them.
They do offer milkshakes, but we chose Coca-Cola to go with our burgers. The atmosphere is fine, nothing particularly special, and the place was quite busy. The service was friendly, though the restroom could really use some improvement.
Parking was easy to find, but it’s worth mentioning that I went on a Sunday. I might come back, and overall, I do recommend this place ⭐️

The absolute best smash burger in the city and I’ve tried them all. In a nutshell, umbrella is bigger and they don’t try to mimic anyone. Their home-made sauce is decadent but does not take over the beef, the patties are crunchy on the edges but remain juicy inside, buns are perfectly toasted and the bang for $ is awesome. The dining room on Preston is not great (except in the summer with the patio) but you won’t care after the first bite; it’s an in and out kinda spot. Sweet potato fries and the spicy chicken tenders also deserve an honorable mention. 10/10

The burger itself was very well assembled and nothing fell out of it. It tasted and fresh and it was overall delicious. The pricing is very fair considering how massive the burger is. I also appreciate how easily customizable the burger is and the variety.
The sauces are very runny/thin in my opinion, very difficult to use it as a dip. The patties definitely need seasoning, and you must eat it immediately or else the patties because very tough and dry.

Ordered the Chicken Sandwich and the Single Burger.
The first couple of bites were good but then it just started feeling greasy and weird tasting. It’s a good burger but not the best. I’ve tasted better specially with those prices.
chicken 6/10
beef 7.5/10

Our first time.
Their burger was delicious – no lack, well done and garnished.
We were not a fan of their curly fries and poutine – nothing special. Fries in poutine were bland.

Ordered this via ubereats while at work – had several other coworkers “rave” about this place. It is AMAZING. The Mac and cheese is the best i have ever had – get ready to feel like you gained 5 lbs.. it’s so rich and creamy and cheesy! And the burger, took the double, added bacon, added mayo and mustard, it was so saucy, asked for extra pickles; it was perfect highly recommend, and will definitely order again.

Hands down the best chicken sandwich I’ve had in Ottawa. Service was quick, food was hot, ingredients were fresh and staff was very kind. The space is also super clean.

I recently visited Umbrella and was absolutely impressed! I had the vegetarian Beyond Burger Single, while my partner went for the Double, and both were fantastic. The flavors were rich and satisfying, and the texture was spot on – honestly one of the best vegetarian burgers we’ve had in a long time. We also shared some curly fries with dip, which were the perfect crispy, tasty side.
On top of the food being amazing, the staff here are genuinely kind and attentive, which made the whole experience even better.
Overall, a 10/10 recommendation – I’ll definitely be coming back!

I came in with high hopes, expecting a top-tier experience given all the buzz—this place is supposed to be #1 in Ottawa. Visited with my family of four and ordered double burgers and fries. The regular fries portion is massive—definitely enough for two people. They were okay, but nothing memorable. The curly fries, though, were excellent.
As for the burgers, they’re enormous. I’m a big guy and still couldn’t finish mine, mostly because they were overwhelmingly greasy. The buns were saturated with oil, drowning out any flavor. Even the pickles disappeared in the mess. When I squeezed the burger, grease just poured out. It wasn’t enjoyable, and I won’t be returning. For me, Lonestar Smash Burgers still reign supreme.
