Umarfisch am Naschmarkt absolutely wowed us, easily the best meal of my Vienna visits so far. We started with a refreshing Hugo spritz and a round of 8 oysters (two each: Fine de Claire No. 2, Huitre No. 2, Krystale No. 2, Gillardeau No. 2). Every oyster was icy-cold, briny, and impossibly fresh. Also pretty large.
For the main event we shared the “Umar Special,” a grilled seafood platter loaded with shrimp, octopus, squid, and fish. Perfect char, tender textures, and clean, bright flavors, just a squeeze of lemon and everything sang. Portions were generous and prices very reasonable for this level of quality.
Service was stellar: super friendly, quick, and knowledgeable without being pushy. The cozy setting right in the market adds a lively, local vibe, great for a relaxed date night or a celebratory dinner.
If you love seafood, put Umarfisch at the top of your Vienna list. Order the oysters, get the Umar Special, and thank me later. I’ll be back!

Delicious and well prepared food. Both glasses of wine were of very good quality. Very extensive by the glass menu of wines.

Very good service! The waiters where very kind and serviceminded!
The food (big fish/seafood plate and oysters like starter )was in summary tasty. The plates where warmed up and the atmosphere was great In Vienna its difficult to find good fish/seafood restaurants, but this is one of the best that we tried

fresh and wonderfully prepared dishes. i’ve never had fish so delicate and not overcooked. the octopus was excellent as well. a big plus for the delicious appetizer.
the short-haired blonde from the staff stole my heart with her dedication and positive energy. despite being in a restaurant, i felt as if she had invited us to her own home as guests 🙂

The risottos were delicious.
The calamari and tuna tartare average.
We found the cost a bit expensive overall and were stunned that the pre meal bread and tuna spread that were brought to us without our asking appeared on the final bill for 15EUR (including napkins and table cloth etc)
This is the first time ever running into this issue.

We enjoyed a lovely late lunch at Umarfisch and highly recommend this restaurant. Everything was delicious and fresh. We shared oysters to start and for main course the whole sole fillet was cooked to perfection and scallops with truffle risotto were incredible. There were lots of options on the menu and I had a hard time making a decision. This restaurant is definitely worth a return visit to try some of the other offerings (ceviche!) We didn’t make it to dessert as we were full from the very generous servings and bread to start. They have their own very compact restrooms so you don’t have to go searching for a public loo at the end of your meal. Great service! We didn’t catch the waiters names but both guys who served us were excellent.

I m reserved about this restaurant. First waiter attempt to offer us his selection to us without giving us the menu. After seeing the menu we don’t know what to order so we looked at google map reviews and picked stuff we liked. We asked about size he said not big so we double order which is a bit too much (I don’t find this honest), we ordeee dish for 3-4 people it came giant cost €180 itself. All dishes taste fresh but NOT exceptional and the fish was not much taste.
The best is raw oysters , it’s fresh and crispy! I can eat three dozens.
Recommend? no.

Umar Fisch in Vienna is a seafood lover’s paradise. Located in the vibrant Naschmarkt, it offers incredibly fresh fish and seafood, prepared to perfection. The menu is diverse, featuring everything from oysters to grilled octopus, with flavors that are simply outstanding. The atmosphere is casual yet refined, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. A top spot for an unforgettable seafood experience in Vienna. The waitress was incredibly impolite.

We had a late lunch here on a Monday I think. Oysters were great, grilled octopus legs were amazing. Also a very nice wine list to bring the whole party together. I’ve been to Vienna 3 times, and would absolutely dine here again upon the 4th visit.

This seafood restaurant was recommended by a friend saying that it has the fish in Vienna. To our surprise the experience was not satisfactory at all.
The calamari was soft and not crispy and cold when served. The Turbot fish was without taste and not really fresh to the extend we could not complete it. The only good plate was the soup.
