I heard great things about this place but I don’t think it’s worth returning to. The menu is limited. No eel. The beverages are a little pricey. The booth we sat in was quite cold. The food was OK but I was compelled to eat too much because of the charge policy. If you don’t eat what you order you will be charged for the items you don’t eat. It was a lucky thing that I brought a baggie so I could stuff a few things in my purse. Everything is served at once, so the table quickly was covered with the salads, appetizers and entrees. Dessert portions are tiny. I enjoyed the music that was playing.

Friday I went and got a crazy roll which is my favorite and first bites were on and then I thought I got chewy seaweed wrap but turns out I was chewing on plastic! Unsure if I ate some from the previous bites! Absolutely horrified and felt extremely sick afterwards. Spent $40 and if went into the trash after chewing and potentially eating plastic

I recently revisited Umami Sushi and Bar, and while my past visits were better, the service was truly exceptional, the fastest I’ve ever experienced! The digital ordering system is incredibly efficient, earning the service a 5/5.
However, the food quality was a mixed bag. The miso soup was disappointing, with a noticeably aged taste. The standard sushi rolls were underwhelming; the “Spicy Girl” roll, in particular, was bland and lacked the necessary jalapeño garnish.
On a positive note, the California roll was fresh and vibrant, and the Chinese options were a pleasant surprise. The General Tso Chicken was perfectly cooked, with a great balance of sauce.
My main disappointment was the average quality of the specialty rolls. While the service is stellar, the sushi needs to improve to meet my expectations from previous visits. I’ll give Umami 4/5 overall, thanks to the amazing service and good Chinese food, but I hope the sushi quality improves. (Food: 2/5, Service: 5/5, Atmosphere: 4/5)

I have eaten at many sushi restaurants around the United States. Umami is very efficient.
I really liked ordering via tablet. The service is very prompt, even when ordering for the 2nd and 3rd time. Most places that will make you wait for the 2nd serving.

I just bought a spicy tuna roll and a salmon roll and to my surprise the salmon was chewy, I even had to spit some out which I’ve never had to do with sushi…ever. And to be fair I’ve purchased from here before, and it was good. This time some of my sushi was turned on its side showing poor presentation, my salmon was chewy and my spicy tuna had a slight chew also. The 3 stars is because I’ve come before and it was decent, but im not pleased guys.

Me and my wife found this spot we loved it at first everything ( was ) amazing no limits we told friends then we come with friends and then stopped us at 94 pieces and our table was still hungry we had 5 people with us and they claimed the wifi was down but people were still getting orders but our Receipt printed out pretty quickly tho. So me and my wife yesterday decided to give it another try after we all discussed not going back. Now its just the 2 of us We barely ate anything and only got 34 pieces of food then they stopped coming to our table slowly and more slowly after we kept ordering things but nothing was coming but very one else kept getting food to the point we didn’t even want to eat there no more we just ask for our check Which came very ( fast ) like always. And we’re very disappointed it’s not I truly all you can eat.

Terrible service, passive agressive waitress. Too busy cleaning the restaurant at 9pm than serving the people waiting for food order. The restaurant closes at 10 but the staff is mopping the floors all around the customers by 915pm.
The restaurant is nicely decorated with plenty of free parking . Ordering online through digital menu is convenient.

All you can susi in Commack is much better food and service than this place.

This is one of my favorite places to eat on Long Island! The all-you-can-eat sushi is fantastic. The pricing is amazing – around $20 a person for all-you-can-eat during lunch and a bit higher for dinner. You order the sushi on a tablet so it is super convenient and fast. The all-you-can-eat includes all sorts of sushi, sashimi, rolls, appetizers, cooked options, and deserts. I highly recommend Umami Sushi!

Horrible sushi especially when there are cheaper places with better sushi. Presentation sucked and the “sushi” was just rice balls. The other food was …ok. Even the cheese cake is only the top layer and the rest is just cake and completely different from the iPad picture.Service is good and iPads are slightly more convenient.

Good food. Service is really good too, waiters are really friendly and attentive, i see people complaining they can’t understand the waiters, its not true unless you have some personal issues…. Love the crazy roll. I was here years ago and remember loving it then and again years later i have a good impression of the sushi. The only thing that bothers me is how dark the restaurant is, kind of feels old, I suggest to lighten it up a bit to create better atmosphere.
