Overall experience was not good. We visited on a Sunday night. With only one other table in the sushi bar and two tepinaki tables seated, we had to wait quite along time for our sushi. Sitting directly in front of the sushi chef, he never acknowledged us. He kept disappearing for periods of time which we found out from the unfriendly waitress that he had to help in the kitchen because they were shot staffed. There was a strong oil and smoke smell the entire time. The sushi was not good, didn’t seem fresh. I will never go back.

I have been dining at Umami since the old store (Church Street location). I have seen a lot of transition with servers but they always have consistent Chefs. The new location looks so beautiful (modern and all). BANG BANG SHRIMP or Chicken is amazing. Sushi menu is the best in town

This is the worst Japanese food I have ever had. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was well done and flavorless. My whole plate of food tasted of only soy sauce. I could have bought a bottle of soy sauce and drank it and would have had the same experience as I did eating their food….Except I would have saved about $20. The rice was overcooked and clumpy and my husbands shrimp looked as if it was scraped off the bottom of the pan. Overall I would only suggest Umami if there were no other restaurants open in a 50 mile radius and all the grocery stores, gas stations, and taco trucks were closed.

My first time here and the food is AWESOME! The waitress is a bit chatty but she’s fun. The sushi and drinks were phenomenal. Will DEFINITELY be back!

New to the area this place popped up as a spot to try for sushi. I had 2 simple rolls and honey had hibachi steak, chicken and shrimp
The soup was luke warm, the crab ragoons the nights special were barely hot, my two simple rolls were ok but not enough to make up for the other faux pas’s. Honeys hibachi took 30 minutes to make it to the table not even warm and my monjito never came. We won’t come again.

Absolute best sushi around!!! The quality of the tuna and other fish make the price definitely worth it! Great lunch spot and even better for dinner.
