My aunt recommended this restaurant in Sugar Land and I actually really liked it! They have a variety of delicious and unique sushi rolls. Each had a different taste and flavor so there’s something for everyone. All the ones I tried were very good. On top of that, the decor and aesthetic of the restaurant itself is super nice. They have a little bar area too. I would definitely come back to try more sushi!

We happened upon Umami while visiting memory care facilites for my dad. We weren’t hungry but definitely wanted a cocktail (touring facilities can be depressing stuff). We stopped into Umami and were given a menu and my husband and I looked at each other and said “I could eat.” So many of their offerings looked tempting AND it was Happiest Hour so we wound up getting a crudo, a crispy rice and baked mussels. It was exactly what we didn’t know we needed. Fresh, friendly, Happy Hour- everything was just perfect and we can’t wait to go back.

SPICY TUNA CRISPY RICE… that’s all I have to say about this place. If I had to recommend only one, it would be just that. Everything about it is perfection, but the only thing I would say is it can have tad more spice to it. Regardless, I would literally come here just to get a couple orders of it.
My husband has tried out their rolls, and he enjoys them. I’ve only ever ordered the Chirashi and everything tastes fresh and I love the variety of the pieces of fish.
Everyone is always friendly, attentive, and welcoming. This has become our go to sushi spot whenever we are in town!

Update: we took the whole family for sushi this time around and everyone loved it. They have great quality sushi rolls and amazing deserts, probably best cream brûlée in town. Great family friendly atmosphere or to go with friends!
My favorite restaurant in Riverstone in Sugar Land! The service is super attentive, and they offer fresh Japanese fish that’s hard to find in Southwest Houston. Their crudo and carpaccio menu is excellent. This is one of my go-to places when I’m craving high-quality sushi in Sugar Land.

Everything was excellent, including the service. Sushi was delicious! The atmosphere was pleasant and, most importantly, clean. The bathrooms were clean. We will be back for sure. My new favorite spot for sushi.

Umami is great. The staff are very friendly and not obtrusive. The chef always picks wonderful cuts of fish. They consistently have a great selection. Their creations are always a treat. The Brussel sprouts are a favorite side as is their gyoza and edamame. I really enjoy their seaweed salad it’s one of the only ones where it has been entirely items from the sea. Their wagyu is melt in your mouth. The atmosphere is great playing some random but hip popular music. A great place to unwind.

We managed to sneak in on a Wednesday a few minutes before happy hour ended and they were kind enough to do last call for us. Decently large selection of dishes, LOTs of roll options. The happy hour is from 12-6 pm so a huge window as I learned. As the other reviews say the portion of fish is well sized and way better quality than I was expecting. The roll we got was delicious (I’m blanking on the name) but had spicy salmon inside and white tuna on top. We also got some chicken karaage which was not my favorite due to the texture. Not super crispy like a traditional karaage dish usually is. But the rest of what we got was very good. I think I have a new bang for your buck sushi place close to home.
I would definitely wanna come during HH so I can try more things out.

I had a fantastic experience here! The sushi was incredibly fresh and also the cheese rangoon was the best. My personal favorite was the Yummy Yummy roll. You get great value for your money, and the atmosphere is lovely. Highly recommend!
