This is a delivery order. We had the Mongolian Beef Lunch, Stir Fry lunch, and Tonkatsu bento box lunch. The lunch specials are good deal they come with a choice of rice and choice of soup or salad. The portions are huge and worth it for the price. All were good, hot and delicious.

The experience was excellent, the food was very good. The fried rice is spectacular and the sushi not to mention, the Rangoon crabs are very tasty. The place is cozy, clean, just highlight the attention of the waitress, an American lady who was not very nice.

The very first time I visited this restaurant, I didn’t like sushi at all!
But then, when I tried their dynamite & dragon roll
it was so unexpected, creamy, saucy, dreamy, crunchy
It was everything for me.
Even though I am a touris, me and my family ALWAYS go there on the 1st or 2nd day
And then again on the last day.
The service is super fast, the people are very nice
It is a whole experience going to umami
I will never stop telling people about this hidden gem!!
Ps. I don’t really have a good picture of the food because come on, if you’re already getting a watering mouth you can understand

All I need to say is look at my photo and what came out on my plate. No manager even came by to apologize or anything. The waitress actually asked if I wanted anything else to eat…NO?! Location is probably infested with roaches and we don’t even know.

I’ll start with the service score. First of all my actual server was amazing!! 5⭐️!! The whole score should have been a 5 star had it not been my interaction with the “manager “ at the front desk. I stopped to voice my opinion of automatically adding gratuity to the check. I have never nor will ever approve of this practice ever! Do not tell me how much I’m going to tip! It is my choice and mine alone and is based on the service I have been provided. Had he acknowledged how I felt versus being snide about “that’s just the way it is “ it also might have rated better. So I left probably one of the best meals and service from the server that I’ve had in a while, ruined by a simple interaction. (Probably need a little self reflection to work on how people get under my skin )

There’s a lot of typing and deleting for this review which made me realize what my experience was truly like. This restaurant is located in a very central area with a lot of restaurants and shops near by. Umami has been around for a while and it is uncertain for me to say if it is amazing or if it is slowly crumbling down. Therefore, I’ll just stick to my experience.
The food (sushi and fried rice) were pretty amazing the day we went. There were many options on the menu that looked and sounded good.
Upon arriving, we were greeted and seated immediately (evening, during the week). The place has a pretty cool look to it but it’s evident that it could use up keeping.
The food was delicious and we found the rolls to be a really big, good portion! Tired of little sushi platters that leave you hungry in other places!
The fried rice was hot and fresh and very tasty.
We really enjoyed the food but the look and feel of the place may not be one for a date night. For us, it may be a spot to come by with a group of family, friends or co workers. (Lots of seating)
I would like to go one more time to solidify my standing on the experience but if this can help anyone anyhow, here it is.

Food was pretty mid, with a lot of unecessary long wait times to have it served in our plates; instead, the chefs seemed like they were having the time of their lives showcasing their culinary skills and begging for people’s attentions despite seeing everybody’s moods and patience being at a low. Everyone was hungry, but no, the chefs have to still strictly meet their show’s quota otherwise how else will they justify the exorbitant amount of money they get paid???? (Probably). Anyhow, the server was pretty average as despite of her forced hospitality and seemingly fake smile, there was not much in which she had to get involved. The only great thing about this establishment is the fantastic and super hospitable photographer that this place has. The guy is a gem. While he does need to eat his bread which is totally understandable, I loved his kind and graceful approach to our table by treating every single one of us like kings and queens as he was handing each one of the photo folders in such a gentle way, I was left stupefied. I’ve been to other places where photographers are rude and hostile, but this guy was different and you could tell that he’s well-experienced on what he does. After seeing our reluctance in buying the photos, he immediately proceeded and gave us a deal you’d never think you’d find in the entire Miami (all because my daughter’s birthday), and mind you, the restaurant was busy, meaning that he probably could have earned more had he spent less time with us. But this is what I call the peak of hospitality, and I wish everyone would have such foundations ingrained on themselves, it would make the entire experience so much better.

It’s an excellent place of Japanese cuisine. I had an amazing experience with the test of the food, especially the Umami Dynamite Roll. I definitely recommend it 100%. The staff is friendly and nice, especially Teresa.
