FYI: don’t look at the low reviews! The dine-in menu/experience is completely different, almost opposite than the takeout menu. Incredibly talented, experienced chef… was closer to fine dining than the traditional Chinese takeout menu and reviews would have you believe. Great drinks, incredible food! Best in VT!

Sorry to say, but not for us. We had a craving for Chinese and expected the fusion to kick it up a notch. The food did not feel familiar and left us wanting. The lo mien tasted like some sort of spaghetti and the orange chicken lacked the orange.

Umami – Japanese…Delicious savory taste.
Not from my experience.
Umami – Manchester…Sweet and gloopy.
Their $11 spring roll is a singular, poor, small and tasteless rendition. Promoted as including shitake mushrooms, scallions, cabbage and vermicelli, ours unfortunately only included cabbage and one lonely string of carrot. Paired with the sweet and gloopy sauce… we felt disrespected.
On their appetizer menu, they list the number of pieces of each plate, perfect for a sharing table. Here they claim you get two spring rolls but they cut one in half.
We felt disrespected.
The rest of the meal was normal average/disappointing. But NOT without similar issues.
GLWS.

We’re local to the area and agreed it was some of the best food we’ve had in Manchester. Great flavors on both the menu and drinks and a wide variety of prices so you can still get a great meal affordably. Our server Alex was super knowledgeable of the menu and had great recommendations. We used to go to Social House and really enjoyed the creative cocktail menu- happy the same bartender is on the team! Looking forward to our next visit!

We’ve had really good takeout from Umami but having their food in-house is even better. We ate at the bar tonight, enjoyable bartender, fast service, and excellent food! The soup dumplings, spare ribs, spring rolls, and crab Rangoon were all delicious! Compared to other food offerings in the area, Umami goes to the top of the list!

This place has what it takes to be an AMAZING restaurant. The atmosphere and ambiance is amazing. We overheard each waiter recommend the bao buns so we ordered them and they were pretty subpar. I did love my ramen though it is a little different than a traditional ramen but still yummy. As for service, our waiter was not very attentive. We had to ask for the bill 3 times. I will say I was being very observant and the waiter at one of the tables by us was amazing. The restaurant wasn’t very busy and our food took an hour to come out. Please take this as constructive criticism because this place has what it takes to be great.

My son and I had dinner here yesterday and were very impressed. Everything we ate was fantastic but the green tea crème brûlée was to die for. My son said it was the best crème brûlée he has ever eaten. We will be back and I will definitely be picking up takeout on those late work nights.

Worth a visit if you’re in Manchester or passing through. Creative asian fusion at a reasonable price. We liked the small plates a lot, especially the seaweed salad and the ribs. It’s brand new and there are a few kinks they need to work out but the food is good. I suspect it will just get better the longer they’re open.
