Honestly spectacular. Had been a long time since I had been here and I remembered it being good, but this was fantastic.

The Out of Control and Snow White rolls were our favorites and very unique and well balanced. Perfect amount of rice (not too thick) and you could taste each element of the fish and other toppings. The coconut shrimp roll was nice but I wish I would have gone with the server’s recommendation of the 1504 Bellevue as I was curious about the enokii mushrooms.

The server Noah was very attentive, professional, and all around just seemed like a nice dude. Even looking around the restaurant, all of the servers seemed to be very attentive and had great attention to detail.

The Skeleton Key was a solid cocktail.

Environment was clean and classy. Looked like a nice New York sushi bar, where it apparently takes inspiration from. Take a minute to read the chef’s bio!

Will absolutely be back next time we’re in town.

Good selection and flavor. Little bit out of the way of your from Omaha or even West Omaha but it was worth it. Really good prices and lunch specials.

An Unforgettable Omakase Experience at Umami Asian Cuisine in Bellevue, Nebraska !

A few days ago, my family and I had the most incredible first-time omakase experience at a hidden gem of a Japanese restaurant in Bellevue—an experience we’ll treasure forever. We were celebrating my son’s graduation and wanted to do something truly special, and this absolutely exceeded all expectations.

From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by Jay, one of the owners, who seated us with genuine hospitality and enthusiasm. Our master chef for the evening, Keen, was phenomenal—thoughtful, precise, and incredibly skilled in curating our culinary journey.

As a family of four new to omakase, we weren’t sure what to expect, but every course felt like a work of art. The ingredients were top-tier—fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. Chef Keen introduced each dish, often naming the fish and sharing little insights, which made the whole experience even more engaging. With every bite, we truly felt like we were tasting the sea—our palates transported on an unforgettable voyage.

The full experience lasted about two hours with many beautifully crafted courses, each one better than the last. I highly recommend this for anyone who loves sashimi, sushi, or simply appreciates fine dining with meaning and intention behind every dish.

Important Tip: This is a very special dining experience, so reservations are a must. We went on a Friday afternoon around 5 PM, but for a more intimate experience, I’d recommend going at a quieter time. Be sure to call ahead and book in advance!

This was more than just a meal—it was a celebration, a memory in the making. We left with full hearts, satisfied stomachs, and stories we’ll be retelling for years to come. Put this on your bucket list—you won’t regret it.
I’m including a few pictures of beautiful sushi plates from other orders for your reference. We didn’t order those!

I’ve been here a few times while I was pregnant last year and I came today to see if the food was as good as I thought it was and it did NOT disappoint. I love raw fish and this is probably the best place to get it from the salmon sashimi is 11/10. I had the soft shell crab, crab rangoons, and egg rolls for appetizer and it was a perfect amount for my sister and I (we are big backed). Sushi was good as always, and we both split the salmon flight which was scrumptious, and I also decided to try a lemon drop. It was pretty good so I ordered another one lol. For dessert we each got the mango mochi, 11/10. We’ve tried the matcha one and it was great we also tried the fried ice cream last year and it was so good but we were filled up from our food we settled with just the mochi this time. I forgot the name of our server but she was great! I couldn’t hate this place even if I tried.

The food is great but the manager or whoever he is, is super anal about charging you for extra dressings/sauces. I understand it from a business aspect but I’m a regular costumer spending 25+ every visit and he chooses to be really strict about 70 cent sauces. It’s borderline weird how anal he is about it. Lost a customer.

Rediculos. I have came here since day one and always celebrate Father’s Day and birthdays here. Mainly get sushi and red curry as some of the best I’ve had. On this celebration I brought a friend that had never been and they ordered the general’s chicken and I ordered the yellow curry to try something new. The general’s Chicken was basically sweet sour chicken with a ton of plum sauce. Nothing like what it should be. We also noticed that the soup was extremely thick like they just added a ton of cornstarch which is not right and with the yellow Curry it was absolutely horrific. Yellow Curry should be a medium, mild heat and a good creamy Rich flavor. This is absolutely absurd with the heat which wipes out any flavor. I asked the server about it and he said oh yeah, it’s way hotter than the red which is not right. There should be a warning on it after multiple complaints. The server still did not offer to switch out our orders. So unhappy I got it to go and I tried to eat it the next day where I almost died. It was so hot. I had sweat, tears and snot running all over my face and you can’t even taste any of the food because it’s so hot. So then I googled what yellow Curry should be. And of course it’s supposed to be medium to mild with creamy Rich flavor. How can they ruin something when they’re red? Curry is probably the best I’ve ever had and actually the least hot I’ve ever had anywhere. And after giving this company my support for so many years and them to just rudely blow me off when I’m saying hey this is way too hot. I can’t even eat it. It’s really upsetting and it $25 per person. Easy. I’m probably never going to come back unless they reach out to me to make things right, but it doesn’t seem like companies care to do that anymore. You can go to the Vietnamese Asian restaurant by Nebraska furniture Mart and have an amazing meal for a third. The price and the owner is the cook and does everything that’s the type of place we should be supporting

The hype is real. I was travelling in town and craving sushi, but was a little weary to order it so far away from the ocean. Idk who supplies for these folks, but they managed to make some top-notch sushi in the landlocked Midwest. Would definitely go back next time I’m in town

I’ve lived in California most of my life, and it was easy to find really good, affordable sushi on nearly every block. But since moving to Nebraska, I’ve had a difficult time finding good sushi. Even Blue, which is supposed to be some of the best, was a disappointment as well as expensive.

When a friend recommended Umami, I was skeptical. Why would Bellevue of all places have good sushi?

Boy, was I proved wrong. Not only is it the best sushi I’ve had in Nebraska, but it’s the best sushi I’ve EVER had anywhere. Even compared to the super fancy places I’ve been to in California.

The fish is incredibly fresh and tasty. My favorite so far is the salmon flight. The tofu hibachi, unagi don, calamari, farmer’s roll, and shrimp dumplings are also to die for!!

While my husband didn’t care much for the rice at first (slightly different than what he’s used to), the quality of the fish more than made up for it.

Not only is the food delicious, but it’s also very affordable!! Full marks. Highly recommend.

Signed,

An extremely picky former chef ❤️
