Love this place. Been coming here for years. The service is always really great. My girlfriend can’t have lactose and they made sure to tell us which dishes were lactose free and took care of all our needs. Our server Samir was so helpful and it was a great time. Always come back here when I’m in town.

The worst Indian food experience in Artesia so far. Absolute waste of money.
The pakoda: mostly batter that too thick and bland. For $10+tax, you will get 6-7 thumb size disappointments in the name of vegetable pakoda. And guess what! We didn’t order rusk or toast. The deep fried brown piece of toast in the pictures is-guess what-fried idli. Maybe just watch a YouTube video on what customers expect from fried idli?
Service: Horrible, horrible, horrible. The cherry on top of bad food experience is “bad mood” “I’m doing a favour on you” staff at this establishment.

Try to avoid, especially for snacks. Coffee was decent, but served from a thermos- for $4.

Worst experience in Artesia so far. Absolute waste of money.

my family has been coming here for almost 15 years! we usually just get the chana batura but today we felt adventurous. we got the mixed vegetable uthapam, the xxl paper dosa, the masala potato dosa i think, some samosas, and of course our favorite the chana batura (with an extra batura!)

all vegetarian, and the uthapam is made with rice and lentil flour so you’ll never feel guilty after eating here.

the service is always wonderful, and everything is clean

Had a first hand experience at this South Indian restaurant. Mixed reviews from other people, but I had to give it a shot since we were in the area.
And gladly it didn’t disappoint, ordered the Idli sambar and it was really moist and nice, also if your are a ginger fanatic, get their Ginger soda( a little strong for me), I stuck with the Lime soda and it was refreshing.
Service was really nice, surprised to see some of the reviews being negative about Service, didn’t have a issue at all.
Must try for South Indian food lovers.

I recently visited Udupi restaurant in Artesia and wanted to share my experience. Overall, I would rate it 3 stars.

Firstly, I must commend the restaurant for their delicious Chole bhature. The combination of spicy chickpea curry and fluffy bhature bread was simply mouth-watering. The flavors were authentic and reminded me of the street-side stalls in India. The portion size was generous, and it was definitely the highlight of my meal.

On the other hand, I found the average/dry paper dosa to be disappointing. The dosa lacked the crispy texture that I expected, and it seemed like it had been sitting out for too long. The flavor was also quite bland. I believe they could significantly improve this dish by making it fresher and more flavorful.

When it came to the kids dosa, it was decent but nothing extraordinary. The dosa itself was thin and crispy, appealing to children who prefer a lighter taste. However, I was expecting it to be served with some sort of accompaniment or filling to make it more exciting for the kids. It felt a bit plain and lacking in that aspect.

In terms of service, the staff was friendly and attentive. They took our orders promptly and were helpful in explaining the menu. The ambiance of the restaurant was clean and comfortable, making it a pleasant place to dine.

Overall, my experience at Udupi restaurant in Artesia was a mix of positives and negatives. While their Chole bhature was outstanding, the average/dry paper dosa and kids dosa did not live up to my expectations. I would recommend this place if you’re specifically looking for great Chole bhature, but for other South Indian dishes, there might be better options available in the area.

Below average food. The service was quick but we felt the food was old. For some reason if you land up here, try Ginger Soda.

Tip: Thali quantity is a lot but very tasteless. I would recommend to avoid it.

Indian food is one of my favorites, even went to India just to eat. We are lucky to live near Little India. Decided to try Udupi, it’s been a while since I’ve had Dosa. Wasn’t in the mood for a potato one, and the waiter suggested the paneer one. Great suggestion and happy I listened to him.

We also ordered the thali and it was a lot of food.

Clean place, good service and delicious food.

Lately I’ve been a bit obsessed. I could eat the dosa and sambar all day everyday forever. I went with two friends and we ordered 6 dishes. I asked the waiter if that was too much and he just kept saying “you’re ordering six dishes”. Well spoiler alert, it was a hilariously massive amount of food and I had leftovers for a week. The chana bhatura is as large as your head and it’s MANDATORY. Felt like I was eating a buttery flakey cloud. It’s the only restaurant I go to in little India bc it’s so good

Dear Udipi Restaurant Management,

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding a recent dining experience at your Artesia location, next to Nalli Silks.

During our visit, a tall staff member from the food service team behaved in an unprofessional and unacceptable manner. When we did not provide the tip he apparently expected, he made an inappropriate and disrespectful remark, calling us “cheap people.” This kind of behavior is not only offensive but also completely unprofessional, and it left us feeling uncomfortable and disrespected.

As a result of this experience, I will not be recommending this restaurant to any of my friends or family. I believe every customer deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect, regardless of the amount they choose to tip.

I hope you take this matter seriously and ensure proper training and disciplinary action is taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
