This was my first time visiting, but I’ll definitely be back. I sat at the sushi bar and was assigned a chef. Tony prepared everything in front of me and it tasted amazing. I enjoyed the tasting of various dishes and gave him the go ahead to be as creative, as he wanted. My waiter was also amazing and very attentive. The service and food were outstanding! I cannot wait to visit again.

2nd time Austin visitor and couldn’t miss dining here! My daughter and I sat at the bar and it was a fun experience! Very one on one service! Atmosphere is versatile: not quiet, but not loud; can be cozy and entertaining at the same time! So smartly designed.
Try the unfiltered Sake! The food was exceptional. Nothing looks the same. Chefs here come up with amazing combinations of fish, textures, colors, and flavors that blend perfectly.
Loved the Charred Edamames! An odd one but great was the mushroom one! Oh…. Must try the banana desert…. Muahhh!
Not cheap! But you can taste and feel the quality and the dedication on each serving!
I declare UCHIKO my one place to go when I visit Austin!

My husband and I have frequented Uchiko often especially to celebrate special occasions over the last few years. It’s so easy to make a reservation so we never have a wait time. Our most recent visit was unlike the others, unfortunately, in a negative way.

Let’s start with the positives (as per usual):
– Food and drinks were fantastic especially for the price! We did the Happy Hour Omakase and Vegetarian Chefs Tasting Menu. Zero regrets there.
– The staff is so thorough about dietary restrictions! It makes the meal stress free for me since some of my restrictions are substantial in terms of consequences.
– The ambiance is lovely and the space is super family friendly! It was our first time taking our now 1 year old son and everyone – especially the front greeters – was kind, sweet, and supportive of us walking around with him since he just started walking and won’t sit still!

The negative (docked 1 star for this):
– Our server, Luke, served up some unnecessary sass. While requesting the Omakase tasting, they had asked for dietary restrictions – restrictions tend to be health related so it was easy for me to share my restrictions – allergic to shellfish and sensitive to black pepper. Those specific words “dietary restrictions” did not translate in our minds to include dietary preferences as well – my husband only eats white meat, not red meat.
– Move ahead to a few courses down… beef was served to him. It looked beautiful but I very politely mentioned “so sorry, but my husband doesn’t eat red meat… is it possible to substitute this with something else?” We would’ve been happy to cover the cost. We just didn’t want to eat something we don’t eat both preferentially as well for cultural/religious reasons. Luke’s response was less than kind and empathic saying something along the lines of “when I asked for dietary restrictions, that’s where this should’ve been mentioned…” yes, okay, we accept that and apologize but mistakes happen especially by sleepless parents of an infant. The attitude in which the response was given took a celebratory occasion and fantastic meal and turned it into a memory that has been painted negatively for us.
– Luke was kind enough to bring me a vegetarian dish to try, on the house, which I was so grateful for! But ruined the moment by saying “I had already put this in free of cost prior to the changing out of the previous dish…” wow… way to take a kind gesture and make it awkward, rude, and unpleasant.
– In addition, despite this interaction, my husband politely said goodbye and thank you. Luke did not acknowledge the niceties at all.

We’ve been eating at Uchiko for years and have had, overall, fantastic experiences! Hoping Luke was simply having a rough day but if this is how they speak to others often, prepare yourselves for some discomfort. Who waits on you matters and what you say/how you say it matters so much; hoping next time we’re back that we get someone else.

Went to Uchiko for the first time for my birthday dinner and I have never felt so special!! We got a reservation to sit at the sushi bar and I could not recommend that experience enough!! The chef was absolutely incredible and prepared us so many delicious dishes I was incredibly blown away! Our cocktail waiter was also incredibly attentive and suggested amazing drinks for our meal. We opted for the Omakase, which allowed us to try many different types of sashimi, tempura, stand alone dishes, etc. We also got a few on the house items for my birthday which I thought was such a special touch. I absolutely loved my experience at Uchiko and will be coming back for a happy hour as I’ve heard it’s one of the best in the city!

Went to Uchiko for their happy hour omakase and it was so delicious! The price and the quality make it well worth! The service was amazing and the ambiance is super nice!

There is complimentary valet which was a lifesaver since this area has very little parking and there are signs in the neighborhood saying not to park there.

It’s super popular here so I’d recommend making a reservation before hand! They were able to accommodate some walk-ins while we were there but the place was packed!

Truly an amazing culinary experience. Not only did they have unique expressions of sushi, but the staff was passionate & knowledgeable of food allergies, confirming with each new dish presented. Impressive sake list. If you are craving excellence in Austin, stop here!

It was my first time dining at this Japanese restaurant, and I was truly impressed.
The atmosphere is cozy and beautifully decorated, and they even have private rooms.

We came to celebrate a birthday, and every dish was fresh, delicious, and clean.
The drink menu has a great variety, and the prices are reasonable.

The staff provided excellent service, and the manager was very polite, checking on us throughout our meal.
I’m not surprised the restaurant is so popular.
I will definitely come back again!

It was a surprise to be able to get a reservation here on a Friday evening. We browsed the menu and talked with our server about the choices. We eventually settled on the somakase which allowed us to work with our server on preference and allow them to pick dishes. A nice feature was to specify a budget as well. We also picked out and enjoyed two glasses of unfiltered sake. All the food was delicious. Many of the crudo were served with flavorful broth and we were encouraged to use spoons instead of chopsticks to enjoy these dishes. We were celebrating a special event at the end of the meal our server graciously comped is our beverages.

Just Amazing and Accommodating! I made a reservation for my Brother’s Birthday since he loves sushi and I wanted to treat him for his first mini vacation in Austin. I have lived in Austin for about 5 years and as a vegan I have never tried Uchiko but after seeing their menu online it was the perfect restaurant for my not only my brother and I but also our plus ones! Our server Melissa was so sweet, welcoming, and made our first experience so much fun and pleasant! Melissa made sure each of us were satisfied and was consistent with refills, explained the menu to us, and helped make my brother feel special for his Birthday. He was so grateful for the experience he had a Uchiko and plans on visiting again. The ambiance of the restaurant was classy with warm comforting lighting, was not too noisy, and it was entertaining watching the chefs get in the zone. The food was mind blowing good! Each bite we took of our dishes made us pause, close our eyes, and savor every bite. From the drinks, to appetizers, entrees, and dessert we were pleased with our selections and the complexity of every meal, even the most simple dishes felt like a whole experience. We definitely plan on coming back to have others try Uchiko!
