I never had Polish food but a coworker if mine who is Polish often spoke of this place and would occasionally eat here all the way from San Diego.
I will say that the experience was lovely from the environment being comfortable, friendly staff who enthusiastically recommended what I should order, and even hours after I left, I still feel full.
Definitely stop by and try eating here if you’re curious about trying good food like Polish food.

**4.6/5 ✨ U Babci Polish Kitchen Lake Forest: Hearty Homemade Polish Comfort**
Tucked in a quiet Lake Forest plaza off Bake Parkway, **U Babci Polish Kitchen** (“At Grandma’s”) is the cozy fast-casual spot that instantly feels like stepping into a Polish home kitchen . The **convenient location** has easy parking and is perfect for a quick lunch or takeout after errands. The interior is warm and simple—wood tables, Polish folk art on the walls, and the comforting smell of simmering cabbage and grilling sausage.
**Service was friendly**—the staff (often family) greet you with genuine smiles, happily explain the menu, and pack everything neatly for carryout. Orders come out fast, even during the weekend rush.
Got the combo plate with **pierogi (dumplings)**, **kielbasa sausage**, and **bigos (hunter’s stew cabbage)**. The pierogi were plump and tender—potato-cheese and sauerkraut-mushroom fillings spot-on with that classic boiled-then-pan-fried crisp. The grilled kielbasa had nice smoky snap and garlicky depth, while the bigos was rich, tangy, and packed with meat and sauerkraut—pure comfort on a plate. Portions are generous and everything tastes lovingly homemade.
Minor deductions keep it from perfection. A couple of the **dumplings** felt like they’d been frozen before cooking (slightly denser texture than fresh-rolled), and the **sausage** came on a standard hot-dog-style bun that didn’t quite match the authentic vibe—would love a crusty roll instead.
Still, U Babci earns a strong 4.6 for delivering real-deal Polish flavors in a friendly, convenient spot. It’s the closest thing to babcia’s cooking you’ll find in Orange County. I’ll be back regularly—next time for the golabki (cabbage rolls). Highly recommend if you’re craving hearty Eastern European comfort.

We had a great first visit! The restaurant is very well decorated and have great atmosphere. Stuff is very friendly and attentive, ask for specials and stuff not on menu….food is very tasty, really have feeling like from grandma house. We had the pleasure to meet Mrs. Babča, she is an amazing lady and creator of those tasty dishes. Save a space for yummy desert and coffee!

I’ve tried quite a few Polish restaurants around the country, and this is one of the best. It’s rare I find a single restaurant that can do justice to golabki and pierogi, but they nailed it. Just like my grandmother made in her kitchen when I was growing up.
The potato pancakes with beef goulash were also delicious.

Party of 3 went for a celebratory meal on a Thursday evening mid-September. We got there around 6pm and were seated immediately. I really liked the interior decor of the place – flowers on the tables, and paintings of Polish cities on the walls. We had two plates of pierogies with sour cream toppings – you can mix and match the 6 dumplings in the plate, and we tried all kinds – the beef ones were the tastiest I would say. Friend had a beer while I had the raspberry Waldwein upon our hostess, Andrea’s recommendation – great choice! Two of us had a golabki each, while the third had the Schabowy schnitzel – everything was fantastic. The meat inside the golabki was cooked to perfection – very tender and juicy and warm. For dessert, we shared two plates of Nalesniki – again very good. Sat, ate, and chatted there for around 2 hours, and the hostess was very nice and patient with us. Total including tips and taxes came to around 52$ per person, and we didn’t have any leftovers. High quality food, but yeah, a bit on the expensive side, if you get a 3-course meal.

You absolutely must visit this Polish restaurant in Lake Forest! The food is delicious, beautifully presented, and the service is impeccable. I haven’t had a pork cutlet this good in a long time! The side salads, broth, and borscht are simply outstanding. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with comfortable seating that makes you want to stay and enjoy your meal even longer. Traditional Polish music playing in the background adds to the authentic experience, making you feel like you’ve been transported straight to Poland. To top it all off, they offer a great selection of regional Polish beers and the unforgettable blackcurrant nalewka, which perfectly complements the meal. A perfect place to enjoy a taste of home or discover Polish cuisine.

Amazing, no-frills Polish restaurant! This is truly one of the exceptional ones. Clean and neat interior. Food was true to its name, tastes like you’re at grandma’s. The flavor was authentic with big emphasis on natural and fresh ingredients. There was nothing artificial tasting or overly greasy. The food was hearty but healthy! Be sure to not skip the perogi toppings! Service was also friendly and excellent. They’re fairly new but, I think they’re going to be a community staple that’s here to stay!
