The owners were so sweet, Mark introduced himself and made us feel right at home. There was a small line after we got in, it looks like people come here just to grab a coffee or some food! The atmosphere is so cozy and home-y with cat knick-knacks and art all around. We grabbed some sandwiches – which were delicious and fresh (I don’t know why reviews say their food is ‘frozen’ or bad) and some hot chocolate.
Their *6 Person Limit* when entering is just because the entrance/ordering area is limited but they have PLENTY of seating in the back and a Catio! We ate our food and asked to see the kitties, there was a small wait because another group was already in there and they have a timer set for the next group, but you can admire the kitties from the two glass doors in the seating area while you wait! When we got in to see the kitties Mark told us all about the cats and left us to enjoy! It was such a great time seeing the cats and they are all so very gentle and sweet.
If you’re looking at the negative reviews and contemplating a visit, I urge you to just go! Mark was lovely and the kitties were worth the small wait, they are simply the cutest.
The other thing is on a busy Saturday, the cafe order area gets packed quickly and the waiting area / tables area is where you have to then walk over to to avoid overcrowding the order area. Totally get it. But what I dont get is when I arrived (maybe Im an idiot) I did not see any explanation or signs saying to wait in said area while the body count goes down. I saw on the door the “6 person Limit” sign but I dont believe it states to wait in the other dining area for a spot in line to clear up. I asked them how they kept track of people coming in, or at least how they tracked people in order once we must go over to the tables area (which is around the corner and down a small hallway so it isnt quite near the counter per se).
The owner is SUPER chill and friendly. He explained that he scopes people out and can remember when they arrived/but it depends when you actually get up to order at the line as to when youd be able to secure a spot to visit the cats. The cats are an add-on to the meal/included with meal purchase but you have to wait until the owner says the next group is ready to go in and he will organize the groups based on first come first served and first done eating. The eating is the main service here. When youre done eating or drinking a latte, coffee, etc, then I guess youre considered “in line” for the cats now.
But I also went and stood near the counter a few times because I was concerned I wasnt “actually” in line for the cat room after my lunch and I drove an hour and a half from MA so I kinda didnt wanna get forgotten or skipped over and I also didnt know (since there are signs saying to donate in order to visit the cats) if i didnt donate as part of my meal total , that Id be skipped over. Turns out when I asked the cashier during my order if I needed to pay for the cat room too as part of my meal I was told it’s fine I can save my money. It was just confusing to see signs for that and then “nevermind” ! I was more than happy to donate. I think they should do a hand stamp or timestamped ticket so the staff can keep track of who is in “line” for waiting on the cats after they eat.
It just seemed kind of confusing for a first time visitor, but the place is small, so I get why they do it- I wanted to share that here!
Prioritize getting a spot in line for the cafe as the main thing, ( like…monitor who is in the order area by peeking around from the tables so you can count if there is 6 ppl in line, and monitor when that goes down and then snag a spot in line ) at this time there was only 1 cashier so it did take a while in line to order lunch but she was super friendly and I didnt mind the wait, I was just concerned that I wouldnt be able to do both in one day since they close at 3! But the cat room visitation stayed open past 3 , if you had gotten there and eaten near 3pm thats fine, so I appreciated him letting us chill with the cats at 3.
I think after my group it was ONE final group at 3:15 and then no more for the day. Cafe is closed promptly at 3pm Id suspect so as long as youre ordering something before 3 you should get a spot for the cats-when you order drinks or food just mention you are gonna chill and wait in the cafe to visit the cats afterward so they know you are there to do that too. The sandwich I had was bomb-super yummy chicken salad and apples/raisins on great bread!
The welcoming and comforting LGBTQ and progressive democrat decor all over is a huge plus too!
My husband and I enjoyed our visit today. And meeting the owner Mark was so nice. Thanks Mark for being so kind and friendly, the vibes when entering your place was also a treat. We enjoyed our beverages and the conversation.
What an unforgettable place to visit, I wanted to stop after leaving our Postcard Cabin. We enjoyed the photo opportunity as Two Wrassling Cats.
Retired Couple from Dallas Texas!
I got a Reuben and a Cinnamon Roll
And my mom got a Veggie Wrap and a Fruit Smoothie.
I’ve seldom considered a coffee shop to be a safe space, and this establishment knocked it out of the park with achieving that specialty. I look forward to telling everyone I know about it so that they, too, can experience its charm
