This was my first time visiting LA and wow, this meal left a mark. I made a dinner reservation for one at the bar. The staff were very friendly and pointed me to my seat right away. I had the corner seat facing a wall. It was also near the curtains leading to the bathroom, which made it feel a bit “in the way.” But I guess that’s typical when dining solo in a smaller space. However, my meal was better than expected. I ordered the garlic noodles with berbere shrimp, which were full of flavor. I also loved the crunchy flakes added on top. The portion size is big and great for leftovers. I wish I hadn’t been too full to try dessert. Definitely give this place a shot. This also seems like the perfect date night spot.

One of the best meals I’ve had all year! After hearing so many great things from friends, my friend and I finally tried this spot and it did not disappoint. We ordered the Honey Berbere Chicken Bites, Lamb and White Bean Hummus, and I had the Garlic Noodles with fried catfish. Everything was incredible. I also had the Sentinela Sour and it was so refreshing. I wanted to try the sweet potato churro but I was too full. I’ll definitely be back soon for dinner and brunch. Highly recommend checking it out and supporting this amazing Black owned restaurant!

Stumbled upon this place for last minute dinner while visiting from out of town. We were seated relatively quickly at the bar with no reservation. It did take them a bit longer than usual to service us, but things moved quickly once they did.

The cocktails were delicious and a good reprieve from overly sugared ones the previous few days. The cuisine further sealed the deal — we started with the broccolini and lamb hummus, then shared jollof with catfish. We were so full we could barely finish. Will definitely circle back here next time we’re out that way!

I’ve truly enjoyed every dish and every drink . The entire staff is caring especially Nita (Juanita). The owners are very hands on. The food was unlike anything I’ve ever tried and I’ve ate all over the world working for an airline. My pictures are for Sunday 10am-3pm brunch and also dinner 5pm -10pm. Make reservations no wait time, Bc it’s always busy no matter the day ask for Nita or SaMaya or Moh . Thank me later

The ambiance was intimate but lively. Great music playing in the background.

The service was great- Nina was so kind and offered great suggestions.

The food was robust with flavor and a generous portion.

The chicken bites were crispy, a little sweet and tangy.

The Jollof rice with crispy catfish was cooked to perfection. It came with black beans (delicious!) and sweet plantains.

The burger was good but definitely worth skipping and trying other menu items.

The house lemonade was so refreshing and not too sweet.

Overall wonderful experience. Will be back!

We went on a Wednesday night. It wasn’t busy, busy but it was still loud and seating is cramped. I thought the table lights were neat.
We ordered and our food came out in less than 10 minutes. It obviously isn’t made to order(probably reheated). Rootbeer short ribs were just beef that was a little dry and tough. There was no rootbeer anything. It was tasty but I was expecting a rootbeer flavor to come through. I also left most of it on my plate because it was dry and too chewy for me and what I expect from braised meat. The branzino was very charred and my aftertaste was burnt. The nucleus of the flesh was light and delicious but the outer portions were overcooked. The garlic noodles were fine but after three mouthful, I’d had enough. The broccolini was smothered in cornflakes and very oily but they were flavorful. My spicy pineapple drink needed more pineapple and definitely more spice. We were there a total of 45 minutes from start to end. We managed to box our leftovers amid the clutter of dirty plates and got our check. Card is preferred as they didn’t have enough change for 100. I would go only to try their jollof to go. I hear that dish is amazing.

We were highly impressed with the food and the ambiance!!

Get the sea bass dish!! Get the jollof platter with a protein, we got chicken. I wish I had more space in my stomach it was so good. The night we went, the sea bass was over a bed of lobster corn curry instead of collards. There was so much lobster. The corn curry, the okra, the crunchies on top of the perfectly cooked fish: Home run!!

The jollof platter was also a hit!

Sweet plantain: perfection ✅

Black beans: 11/10 best I’ve ever had. Soupy but Seasoned like no other. ✅

Arugula: lightly dressed, balances the flavors ✅

Chicken: perfectly cooked, tender, flavorful ✅

Jollof rice: delicious with a legit touch of spice for those of us who don’t prefer spicy food. To be clear, it was not too hot for me but the heat was there enough for me to want to mention it. When you eat the jollof rice with the chicken and plantain you’ll be fine. Eating the rice by itself, you’ll feel some heat it if you’re a lightweight. People like my boyfriend who like spice won’t even notice the heat. ✅

We stopped by without a reservation on a busy Saturday night around 8:30pm. The place was packed and there were people waiting in front of us. We were fortunate to get a table in less than 10 minutes The kitchen closes at 9:15. There is a large Ralph’s parking lot behind the restaurant. Some spots are reserved for school staff but we parked there anyway since it was Saturday night and all the other businesses looked closed.

The service was very slow. The food didn’t take long to come out but it felt like we waited close to 15 minutes to order, didn’t get checked on while we ate, the waitress stopped by to tell us that the kitchen was closing just in case we wanted dessert but other than that we were on our own. We had to flag someone down to get to-go boxes, then we had to flag someone down again to pay the check. We understand that a lot of places are short staffed and doing their best but it helps when there is some acknowledgment like “thank you for your patience” or “sorry that took awhile” or something.

That being said the food was more than worth it! We are definitely going back! I need to try those garlic noodles and I would eat that sea bass for life!!

Came here w/ a dinner reservation last Friday evening. Unassuming, hole-in-the-wall from the outside. They have moderate space but can feel a little too close to other patrons, however seats were comfortable w/ relatively nice ambience.

Foodwise – simply delicious and flavorful. This establishment uses seasoning well and the entrees we had seemed a little sweet-forward (which I didn’t mind at all).

We loved the flavor profile of the Grilled Broccolini, the Braised Short Rib had perfect texture, and the Garlic Noodles were good!

Drink-wise the Sour was definitely a personal favorite, very tasteful. And the Young Fashioned had a usual kick you’d expect from that type of drink.

We also enjoyed the Sweet Potato Churro – what an inventive treat!

Lastly, Nita (Juanita on the receipt) our server was so lovely and personable – she made our first-time experience here that much more enjoyable. Thanks Nita – we appreciate your time and superb service!

We’ll definitely try to make another reservation to try out y’all’s brunch menu.

I went today for and early bday dinner and the service and food was impeccable. I ordered the jollof platter and lamb chops. My daughter had the branzino with the jollof platter, and my husband had the braised short ribs and jollof platter. We ordered the plantain and crab starter. We loved everything! 10/10, we will definitely be back!

The food was OK, but didn’t live up to the hype surrounding this restaurant now. I had read a number of reviews touting the Jollof rice, but it didn’t resemble the Jollof rice I’ve had on my trips to West Africa–it was dry and didn’t have much flavor. The appetizers were quite good and very interesting. My wife loved the short ribs she ordered. The service was very good.
