It’s a cozy place- small, but it has a familiar, almost intimate feel to it. And everyone I interacted with was friendly, made me feel like I’ve been going there for years.
Definitely recommended.
First- service was great. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful.
The food- we got a southern Cobb salad and the Tarheel burger. The Cobb salad was great. Chicken had great flavor and the portion size was perfect.
The tarheel burger, unfortunately, was not. Both the texture and the flavor were bad enough that I did not eat more than half of it. For a ~$15 burger, that’s not ideal.
We will definitely come back because the salad was great, I’ll try something else next time though.
We sat at a high table across from the bar. One would think it would be noisy but not really. Kinda has a diner feel being an ear shot of the kitchen hearing all the orders coming through and the bartender talking it up with those sitting at the bar.
Decent amount of older folks came in while we were there. But there were at least two families also, so a good mix of customers.
The Philly cheese was nice and cheesy; a decent portion that should satisfy most everyone. The southwest cobb salad was a nice size and the chicken wasn’t overcooked. Win! I also ordered a crab cake to go with my salad. The combination of salad and cake was a lot. I started to question my decision for adding the crab cake. Sorry for the photos, we were pretty hungry and attacked our food before I realized we wanted a few quick pics.
In the end, a party of two left fat and happy.
Made a second trip for lunch 10 months later. I’ve been on a smash burger kick lately and hesitant to order a “traditional “ burger but was told by the server it was really good. I order the blueberry bacon medium rare. She wasn’t lying. Juicy and flavorful. Love the crispy fries too.
Oh, and the burgers were top-notch!
