I want to share my full experience with Two Fish and Five Loaves from beginning to end. I decided to use this restaurant for catering after receiving a recommendation. I spoke with Kevin before the holidays and later called to place my order. Because it was the holiday season, I understood they were busy and tried to be patient throughout the process. When placing my order, I was told to leave a deposit, and the amount was left up to me. I paid more than half of the total and was told the remaining balance would be paid in cash upon delivery. On the day of the event, I arrived late to the venue due to heavy rain and traffic. I take full accountability for that. Derek from the restaurant called and stated he had arrived and was waiting to setup the food at the venue. When I arrived, I spoke with Derek, and he repeated the same information which he did not say he was waiting for the rest of the payment only or he was waiting for long time for payment. As I went to give Derek the remaining payment, he stopped and said Kevin wanted to speak with me (which his name was saved as dad). When I got on the phone, Kevin immediately spoke to me in a rude and disrespectful manner about how long Derek had been waiting. I attempted to apologize, but Kevin cut me off and said, “I don’t want no apologies either.” He then demanded that I pay Derek extra money for the wait. Had Kevin handled the situation professionally, I absolutely would have corrected my mistake and compensated Derek for his time. Instead, I felt disrespected and mistreated. Kevin also stated that he would no longer do business with me, which is fine. Unfortunately, the food quality did not make up for the poor customer service. The chicken was undercooked and pale, and the string beans were unseasoned. The only positives were the fried fish and mac and cheese, which guests did enjoy. Kevin, customer service matters. Allow people the opportunity to right their wrongs before being disrespectful especially when the food itself is inconsistent.

The cashier is not a people person. She need people skills training. The ones in the back are nicer. The food is delicious, they just need to put your greens in a spill tight container, so it doesn’t make your fish, shrimp and cornbread soggy. I did not eat in did not know they had eat in. I order takeout

I just placed an order through Grubhub and I am very disappointed. I order 10 piece Fried Chicken and ended up with fish!?! That’s not what I ordered I ordered chicken not fish. Other items from my order were missing as well. I’m very disappointed and will likely not order from this restaurant again. If you ran out of food just call the customer and make them aware so they can tell you what items to substitute. After all you called me to tell me that you ran out grilled salmon you could’ve also informed me that you no longer had chicken. It’s not rocket science.

So I ordered from this business about five years ago. I couldn’t remember why I never ordered again. But after receiving my order, it all came back. So I had a taste for whitings and didn’t want to cook this evening. I ordered 6 pieces of whitings fish for $13.99. Switch and bait, turns out the advertised 6 pieces are actually 3 small pieces that are cut in half. False advertisement. I ordered 8.oz of collard greens. It was under cooked, tasteless and basically stems, and very little greens. I ordered 8oz. candied yams. It wasn’t yams. It was more like a puree loaded with an excessive amount of brown sugar. I also ordered a 16oz. mac and cheese. They sent an 8oz. which actually was a good thing, because it was in a lake of butter. $50.00 that could have been spent on an actual enjoyable meal. If I could have given a zero rating, I would have. Both of my parents were from North Carolina. I cook myself. This isn’t Soul Food. It’s just food. I slipped twice. It won’t happen again.

On 10/ 05/2025 I drove there from south jersey. I order two platters. I order and fish dinner and a shrimp dinner disgusting. First of all I order mac cheese and yams as my sides on both orders . Got home they didn’t give me my yams on either platters. They gave me some nasty collard greens with no taste . The mac cheese was old The fish looks like it’s been sitting out . It was soft had a little flavor.$47.00 Down the drain . This was the worst platter . I see why my co worker didn’t want to order anything from there and the lady that took the order wasn’t that friendly either. I’ve been ordering for years from there. This the third time. I can never go back. It’s to many real good soul food put here. This is not worth the hype. I miss the guy with the glasses. Who ever cooking now CAN’T COOK.

We have to say that this is the best soul food place we have ever eaten at. It eats Southern cuisine to perfection. The only gripe we have is that you cannot dine in to enjoy the aesthetics, or lack thereof. We think that the portion size is somewhat okay. The corn bread is amazingly unique; perhaps moreso a dessert and is very different from a typical corn bread made for Southern dishes. Be prepared!
■A Quyloon Reese Report on Experiences & Custom (QR-REC)®:
Food: 90/100 (The turkey wing was a little dry and was not dressed with a sauce)
Portion to Cost Ratio: 75/100 (The rice was lacking for this category; ask for more)
Comfortable: 60/100 (A little tight, and there is no spot to sit and enjoy the dish)
Hospitality (Staff): 75/100 (We were told that they are nice but mostly cater)
Clean: –/100 (not including restrooms)
Overall Score: 300/400 (75%) ⭐⭐⭐☆☆

Gah daaayyuummmm! The people are so nice, the food is delicious, and I crave it at least once a week. Order in advance because they get busy. The wait is worth it though, I promise.

Definitely recommend. Any option near the $20 price range has enough of a portion to share between two people.
The fish and chicken are freshly fried & the macaroni is home-made. Most meals come with two sides and cornbread.
Food was ready within 20 mins.

My son purchased a plate of Mac n cheese and fried chicken to bring home. It’s truly astonishing how any food establishment would serve chicken with massive chicken feathers still on it. Disgusted just looking at it!
