Ordered a taco salad wanted beef was out of it. Told they had shredded beef. Ok so I took that. Got my order. Opened it up and a tad bit of lettuce was on there. Very upset. Had they said they were out of lettuce I wouldn’t have gotten it. What’s the point in a taco salad without the lettuce. I even tried to call. Of course no answer. Won’t be going back. What a over $12 disappointment. Never again. Glad I wasn’t craving it. Jokes on me.

My mom and I go here for breakfast every Saturday and the burritos never disappoint. The breakfast burritos are a great value. You get more than you pay for. The staff is always friendly, and the restaurant is always clean. We’ve been doing this for nearly a year now and have never had a bad experience. 10/10 recommend.

Located in the middle of a small shopping center just off Highway 550, the Bernalillo Twisters Cafe may not impress with its ordinary fast-food joint aesthetics, but what it lacks in ambiance, it more than makes up for in its delightful New Mexican comfort food cuisine.

One of several Twisters locations dotting the Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, and Bernalillo area, this cafe is a short 10-minute walk from the Rail Runner station. Upon entering, you’re greeted by a friendly and attentive cashier/server who often engages in banter with the local townspeople, calling them by name. This camaraderie is a testament to the establishment’s popularity among the locals.

My recommendation? Try the carne adovada burrito smothered in red chile sauce. The generous portion, almost a foot in length, is a flavorful masterpiece that will leave you in awe. Each bite is a burst of authentic Northern New Mexico flavors, making you realize that this is how real New Mexican food should taste. While the chile is classified as mild, it packs a punch for those unaccustomed to the spicy heat of New Mexico cuisine.

Although all Twisters cafes uphold the same quality of food, the Bernalillo location holds a special place in many hearts due to its cozy, community ambiance. The counter person’s genuine concern for my dining experience, asking if everything was alright, was met with a wide grin and an honest assurance that the food was truly fantastic.

Update- the food especially the Chile (mild almost bland) is not as good as it was a year of so ago.

I’m scratching my head at all these recent negative reviews. I went to this location yesterday afternoon, ordered through drive-thru, and it was a pleasant visit. They weren’t busy since it wasn’t around rush hours, but the lady that took and gave me my order was great.

The food itself was delicious! I got the Green Chile Chicken burrito, smothered, and a large Dr. Pepper with no ice. The only complaint I have is there could have been more chicken in the burrito, but otherwise, it was hot, fresh, and every ingredient tasted so good. The pictures I took almost illustrate just how good it was… almost. 😛

I’ll definitely be back! Thank you for a wonderful first visit to Twisters after having gone so many years without it.

Great fast food but yummy food spot. Staff was very nice. We got to go inside to order and they offered dine in. Food was cooked fresh to order. Big portions. Good food. Seasoned well.
We ordered a lot so we could taste a few things since it was our first visit.
The staff member that took our order was helpful explaining all the food and flavors to us. The kitchen staff was nice and cooked our food quickly and the kitcheb looked in order from what I could see as I peeked back.
Good expiernce. We will be back.

****Feb 2022…We went back after this and found the doors locked but drive thru open. No reason why and we have a RV so can’t use drive thrus. Very upset at the fact no one came to the door even tho they walked in front and saw us. No notice on the door or online. I won’t change my previous review because that day that score was earned but today I would give 0 stars****

No frills spot, good food, friendly staff. Experienced fast delivery of food to our table. We had left 4 other crowded restaurants with a big wait (even a local fast food joint told us 25 minutes to get the food). We were in and out in 20 minutes. You get a ton of food for a low price, which was an added bonus. Almost couldn’t finish.

Terrible customer service. We just drove up and ordered 2 green chile cheeseburgers and fries in the drive thru. The lady on the intercom then said “your total is $35.25”. We asked her if this was correct because it didn’t reflect the prices on the board. She said she entered each item individually and didn’t enter it as a combo (the total price still didn’t make sense). We asked her to put it in as a combo instead and she just said “I can’t do that because they’re already making it”. We then asked her to cancel and just re-submit our order and she said “I can’t do that”. We ended up speaking to the manager who was no help and was laughing with the employee. Do not recommend. Both employees seemed completely out of it and unable to do their jobs.

One of the things we look forward to when visiting Albuquerque is a visit to Twisters. I know they’re not limited to New Mexico, but that’s where we visit Twisters the most.

Twisters is a regional fast-casual Mexican eatery that offers a number of menu items that are outside the normal scope of Mexican eateries. On a previous visit I tried and burger (not your normal Mexican fare) and it was surprisingly good. Not to mention another chain by name, but it should ring a *Bell*. It’s counter service, then wait for your order to be called. The gentleman who took our order was also managing drive-thru orders, so he was hustling.

We visited after the lunch rush (we’re smart that way), so our food delivery was less than 10 minutes. Our orders were hot and fresh and accurate (see the accompanying photo for proof). During the entirety of our stay we were the only customers in the dining room.

The pinto beans and the rice were pretty average. I had two ground beef tacos, which were very good, but the shredded chicken taco was definitely the Best In Show.

The dining room was very clean and the trash had recently been emptied, so high marks on dining room cleanliness. A bit *High-Five* to Twisters for having All Gender restrooms!

We look forward to our visits to Albuquerque every two or three years, and Twisters is a must-visit every time we do.

World’s saddest burrito. I went to twisters today to pick up an online order. When I arrived I first received a box with egg potato and cheese. I went back around and ask them where the tortilla was. They told me I had ordered the wrong thing, but that they would correct it. When I first pulled up to the window, an employee came up and asked me what I exactly wanted and I told her. She said they would fix it. Then another employee came to the window and explained what I needed to order in the future. He told me what I wanted was a smothered burrito. He told me at least four times that normally it would be an extra charge but they would take care of it this time. I offered to pay the difference but he kept repeating himself that in the future they would charge me. I understood him the first time… after his mini lecture I received this… the worlds saddest burrito. I am happy I didn’t have to pay the difference because what is this?

I used to go here a lot but it’s went downhill so much. The staff don’t know what they’re doing and they don’t know anything anymore. Literally every time I go they get my order wrong everytime. This place sucks.
