The young entrepreneur, daughter of Penny and Trace Zima has opened Twisted Ice Cream, offering premium soft serve and gelato in an amazing array of always-changing flavors. Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream, Italian Ice & Dole Whip. Vegans and gluten-free diets usually mean an end to ice cream, but Twisted offers gluten and dairy-free. The store is located inside/next to Pennyz Party Town, also operated by the family. Twisted was established 2014 when Zima was just 15! Stop in you just never know what she is up to next! Not your typical ice cream shop, it’s part of a larger enterprise, but I’m not sure what. My chocolate malt was meh…the sale of alcohol-enhanced treats leads one to envision the belligerent uncle cursing loudly or the recently divorced and bitter sister-in-law slurring “I always hated you.” No Norman Rockwell in sight.

Kinda hit or miss. Ice cream is good and there is an interesting variety including lactose free and gluten free options. My shake was good, but wife’s chocolate peanut butter sundae wasn’t so good. Way too much chocolate syrup, like someone dumped half a can of Hershey’s syrup on it. Too sweet to eat.

What a fun little spot! When I arrived on a warm Sunday afternoon, I was the only customer. Sat on one of the benches to enjoy my mid-sized and very colorful cosmic cone and seemed to attract other customers. When I finished about 15 minutes later, there were at least 15 people happily waiting in line for service. I’ll be back!

Twisted Ice Cream is a gem. The Zima family are about the nicest people you are going to meet. They make you feel like an old friend whether you are visiting for the very first time, or the first time today. This is small batch, handcrafted goodness. High quality ingredients. Classic flavors mingle with unique and vegan choices. Sampling is always an option and the staff is always happy to make recommendations. Although the shop is small, it is very clean and there is plenty of outdoor seating.
