We tried both quiches — the vegetarian and the bacon — and they were absolutely delicious. The tart shell was buttery and just amazing.
Their croissants are the best I’ve had so far in this wonderful city. We also tried the lemon poppy seed pastry — very nice, though a bit sweet for my taste (I’m sure others will love it). The chuffin with raspberry and rose was a great combination, and my personal favourite was the pain suisse (they don’t call it that here, but that’s what it’s called in France) — absolutely delightful.
The staff were incredibly friendly and kind, which made the visit even better — until I learned they never actually receive the tips customers leave. That was disappointing, to say the least. Imagine running such a great bakery and still keeping your employees’ tips… classy move, right? Maybe the team should start a co-op and bake ethics into the recipe next time.
Wow. The owners response really drives it home. Pompous, combative and unprofessional. Keep treating criticism this way and burn through all your customers and watch your rating fall into the toilet. It’s clearly what you deserve.
The do sometimes sell out toward late afternoon and may close earlier than listed in their store hours. I always try to get in before noon to make sure I get my pick of my favorites.
It’s not the cheapest but for the taste, quality and portion fairly reasonable.
Definitely a must-try!
We were in Portland for half a day after a camping trip and stopped by because of such high reviews on Google. Those reviews are deserved.
The pastries are so so good – perfectly flakey, buttery but not too buttery, and the flavors are absolutely bang on. A ton of extra points for not being overly sweet.
Since my eyes are bigger than my stomach, and I everything looked so good, we bought 3 pastries – the rosemary ham croissant, the apricot and formage croissant and the chocolate paris brest. We also got an iced lavender latte and a mocha (less impressive).
I could go on and on about the pastries, really. The brest was perfection – the choux pastry was just crisp enough, the butter cream was heaven. This one was by far my absolute favorite. The apricot and formage croissant were so well balanced – the tartness of the apricot pretty offset by the cheese.
I don’t think you can go wrong with anything you order here. This place is a gem.
The star of the show-and rightly so-is the Raspberry Rose Cruffin, a marvel of engineering and flavor. Part croissant, part muffin, this delicate swirl of laminated dough is filled with a lush raspberry-rose pastry cream that strikes the perfect balance between floral elegance and tangy brightness. Each bite shatters into buttery layers before melting into a silky, fragrant finish. It’s the kind of pastry that makes you pause mid-bite just to savor the moment.
Equally compelling is the Chocolate Cherry Pain Suisse, a decadent riff on the traditional Swiss pastry. Flaky, golden dough encases a rich chocolate custard studded with tart cherries, their acidity cutting through the sweetness with precision. The exterior glistens with a glossy glaze, hinting at the pleasure within—a masterclass in texture and harmony.
For those with a deeper chocolate craving, the chocolate mousse dessert is a non-negotiable indulgence. Light yet luxuriously dense, the mousse is crowned with a glossy ganache and perched atop a whisper-thin cocoa crust. It’s the kind of dessert that feels both refined and deeply comforting-a testament to the bakery’s ability to balance sophistication with soul.
And then there’s the raspberry cheesecake, a creamy, dreamy revelation. The velvety filling, brightened by swirls of raspberry purée, sits atop a buttery graham cracker base, offering just the right amount of crunch. It’s a refreshing departure from cloyingly sweet renditions, letting the fruit’s natural tartness shine.
The Twisted Croissant doesn’t just bake pastries-it crafts experiences. Every item is a testament to the care and imagination poured into it, making this Portland gem a must-visit for pastry lovers. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, one bite will have you plotting your next return.
