Terrific store with high-end groceries, kitchen novelties, very clean and spacious restrooms (not gender-specific). Funny selection of cocktail napkins. Array of salad and sandwich choices including a limited possibility for “create-your-own”. Beautiful desserts on display and what appeared to be a fabulous homemade ice cream case, though I cannot partake of that, so I concentrated my attention elsewhere. Drink case offered several varieties of bottled drinks, both carbonated and not, as well as water. We had a lovely salad and part of a baguette, drinks and a dessert for about $30. I had a delicious coconut/ chocolate confection, while my hubby enjoyed a blondie (that sounds like a whole other topic, but I mean the light version of a brownie!!). Indoor and outdoor seating are available.

This place presents really well, but their food is awful. It just doesn’t have any taste. It’s basically a tourist trap, I don’t know anyone who lives here that actually goes there for anything.

Twelve Pine could be a much more popular place for lunch, but it’s not. The food is delicious, the restaurant is cozy, and the ladies working there are generally friendly and provide good service.

However, talk to anyone in this town as to why they don’t go there more often and it’s always the same answer – the man (presumably the owner) treats the employees horribly and the coldness of his personality permeates the atmosphere of the store when he is there. He berates the employees over the littlest things and seems to have a general dislike for people. I’ve never seen an owner of a local shop ever seem so annoyed to have customers in his store. We stop in less and less frequently because what should be an enjoyably lunch is always overshadowed by the negative energy permeating the store because of the owner’s attitude and behavior.

Hopefully one day this place will get new ownership and become the warm, joyful lunch spot it has the potential to be.

I love coming here especially when Deklin is working. Deklin is one of the hardest working young people I’ve seen in a while. He always makes sure I’ve got everything I need and he is very kind and considerate.

A wonderful place, The best blueberry scone I have ever had, and a Dirty Chai Latte (2 shots of espresso) that was so good I got a 2nd for the ride home.
Everything looked amazing, the entrees in the case looked delicious and the presentation was top notch!
I had to leave before the pastry case got the better of me… Worth the trip!!!

I adore this place! The people there are very very kind and helpful and the sandwiches and wraps are fantastic and full of meat which is unlike so many other places these days! Their coffee is also very very good and they have different flavors to choose from. This also has a little store that offers wine and some culinary things, some jams and cutting boards, gifts. It’s a unique and quaint place. I will be going back!

The food was okay but nothing great. The entrees in the case looked much better than they were after being heated up. I had the chicken parmigiana over linguine and the noodles were tough after reheating. Another person had the pork loin which too was tough. Maybe there are better options on their menu which would have been better. It was also disappointing that they do not serve wine, though they do seem to have a good selection of bottles for sale … you just can’t enjoy it there.

Holy Lord.

I sent my husband to 12 Pine for some soup. Apparently, they weren’t serving soup on this day despite the website stating it was a menu item. Okay – grab a burrito, I say.. and this is where the fun begins.

My husband sees the burrito bar and anticipates they will whip up a burrito right there. Kinda like the place around the corner that is now permanently closed. No such luck. “Do you want it hot or cold?” Says the lady. Who eats a cold burrito?! Is this some sort of trick question? So he tells her hot. She places it IN THE MICROWAVE with a cover.

So… I’m back at the car manning our three hooligans and taking a rest because I’m pregnant with the 4th. It’s a total circus, I realize this. He comes back with this burrito and tells me it was nuked. First thoughts: Oh my. I opened the container, and – as I suspected – the burrito was visibly soggy. I poke the burrito and immediately confirm my suspicions. At this point, I pick up the burrito, and it breaks open from being wet, and all the contents spill out. I can now see what looks like chicken and cream cheese and am even more confused / concerned by what happened. This does not at all match menu descriptions.

So my pregnant alarm bells are going off, and I am decidedly *not eating this.* But my husband is committed because we paid money for this thing. So he dives in. The smell is awful. And he says the taste is worse. But he goes for it – at least as far as his stomach is able to handle (about 75%). At which point, he is nauseous and calls it quits.

We drive home (leftovers in hand), which he sits on the counter. We stepped out for a bit and came home to find that our 100-lb black Labrador had labrasharked his way through the kitchen and finished the remainder of said burrito. The dog spends the evening panting – I’m not sure this was due to the humidity or the burrito, only time will tell.

In the meantime, husband recovered well enough to eat *some* dinner, but on a trip through the house to find a doll for our youngest, he had an *emergency.*

Jury is still out on whether our dog also blows out his backside.

Twelve Pine gets two stars because the outside is always well decorated.

To add: this place does not appear to be very child friendly. If you have two kids, just skip it. Signage says you need to be holding hands at all times, and I’m trying to figure out how to hold the hands of two children AND your order.

This is a wonderful place to eat, to experience local atmosphere, to sit in the light. The staff are helpful and friendly and at ease. The food is exceptional. We recently had Twelve Pine cater our high school graduate’s celebration, and it was extraordinary. Fresh, plated elegantly, and just the right price.

We will keep going back.
