Reviews
The pizza he ordered was called Campany (?) and had Italian sausage, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and basil. The flavor was incredibly well balanced. Also, the cheese was oozing and everything was still hot which always makes pizza so much more delicious.
We also ordered a coffee and a lemon sorbet for dessert. The size was perfect for us to share and the specials made lunch more affordable. Other than parking which is always a challenging Columbia City, it’s worth coming to one of the only places in Seattle that serves dishes that are certified Neapolitan.
Service: Great! Never felt rushed or pressured to order faster or slower!
Food: You can see the food being prepped/cooked from the main dining area. Food came out fast and so delicious!
We ordered the Bruschetta, Margherita Pizza, Meatball & Ricotta Pizza, and the Warm Caramel Cake to-go. All of it was fresh, fast, flavorful, and the proportions were perfect!
We cannot wait to come back!
My only downside is that I’m not the biggest fan of the thin or floppy center of the pizza, but aside from that, the service was great and the vibes were good
The bar staff are all friendly and knowledgeable, obvious skilled hands hired here. Desserts, I am a sucker for decent Tira Misu. And my experience here is: they totally rock this Lady Finger delight.
For some reason, my wife w/ the menu sez, “Leave the gun.” So, we get this ridiculous Pistachio chocolate chip cannoli served with spoons in a bowl. A few crumbs might make it over the edge, but this ends up being a good call. You have to just bash the tube, and compose your spoonful.
Well done.
They have a new menu w/ a Tutta Bella Old Fashioned, Chocolate and Orange bitters, a bit of Maple Syrup. A truly nice and accomplished variation on an old theme.
Parking is on the street, a block or two off spaces can be free. There is an upstairs area I remember seeing our Chief of Police Best at least a few times in years past, my memory of those days were, the portions were generous. If you were silly enough to eat it all, no room for even the lightest of the Italian desserts (the Italians are exceptionally good at these).
If you want espresso, another reason I have stopped in before shows at the Royal Room as I was walking by… they have the real deal, and supplied by an excellent roaster.
About a year ago, right around Valentine’s Day, this place was incredible. It was our spot. The pasta was rich, the sauces were layered and flavorful, and it felt like a special local gem worth the price tag.
Fast forward one year, and I don’t know what happened.
The flavor just isn’t there anymore. For a restaurant that isn’t cheap (which is totally expected for a nice Italian spot), the dishes felt flat and under-seasoned. It’s starting to taste less like a beloved Seattle original and more like a corporate chain trying to compete with Olive Garden. And I’m genuinely sad to say… we probably would’ve had more flavor at Olive Garden this time.
We also couldn’t help but notice the restaurant felt noticeably emptier than it used to. A year ago it was buzzing and hard to get a reservation around Valentine’s Day. This time, there were plenty of open tables, which honestly made us wonder if others are noticing the same decline.
After a quick Google search, I noticed there’s a new CEO. I don’t know if it’s cost-cutting, a new chef, different sourcing, or what …but something has clearly changed.
A year ago, this was our Valentine’s tradition. Now, we won’t be coming back.
The hunt for a new local Italian spot begins. We’ll be keeping it local.
I believe this place is the first in the Pacific Northwest to be certified by VPN (Naples Pizza committee).
Bruschetta, Garlic knots were amazing! Peach Burrata salad is a must try!
For dessert we got Tiramisu, canollis and a chocolate almond torta (brownie).
Everything was amazing. Highly recommended.
The beet appetizer was clearly made with canned beets — the texture was soft and metallic-tasting, and there was none of the freshness you expect from house-prepared beets.
The bigger issue was the pasta. It tasted exactly like boxed grocery store pasta and something I could’ve made at home for $5. For an Italian restaurant charging $24–$30 per plate, that’s simply unacceptable. At that price point, you expect house-made pasta, not something that tastes like it came straight from a pantry shelf.
If you’re going to position yourself as an elevated Italian dining experience and charge accordingly, the ingredients and execution need to reflect that. Unfortunately, this felt like paying fine-dining prices for canned and boxed goods. I won’t be returning.
Not the restaurant’s fault but was seated next to a table with children playing and crawling/rubbing their hands all over the floor, around our table/at our feet and in the walkway. Parents oblivious.
Disappointing after hearing great things.
