Whenever we come into town we plan to stop here. Had the philly cheese steak and hubby had the turnpike burger. Both were good! Had the raspberry cheesecake bites were good too. The waitress was so kind and definitely has hospitality.

Really cute small diner. We had the BLGT – that’s bacon, lettuce and fried green tomato sandwich! Perfect and the onion rings and homemade potato salad is really good.

For a mom and pop place that is a small place the food and service is quite amazing. We live about 2 miles away in Timber Pines and did not know this place existed. The portions were large. My salad had more than the standard iceberg lettuce and was quite tasty. I have a fairly good appetite but had to share my fries and still had fries left over.

The server and cook were very efficient and we had our food within 10 minutes or less. It even has a little atmosphere with around 100 license plates from the last 75 years or so and an old gas pump trying to emulate a turnpike stop. It even had a tiny lunch counter. The cook even checked in with us on her food. What a nice change of pace on our ordinary restaurant route.

Best Kept Secret in Spring Hill!

I can’t believe I’ve driven past this gem so many times without stopping in! After a friend recommended it to me a month ago, I finally decided to give it a try—and wow, what a treat!

I ordered the Dublin Burger, and let me tell you, this isn’t your average burger. It’s a thick, juicy, handmade patty topped with tender corned beef, melted Swiss cheese, and perfectly caramelized onions. I asked for it medium rare, and it came out cooked to absolute perfection—something many places struggle to get right. The flavor was phenomenal, and you could tell it was made with care.

The onion rings were just as impressive—crispy, golden, and downright delicious. Honestly, finding a spot where the sides are as good as the main dish is rare, but they nailed it here.

Special shoutout to my server, Autumn! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure my glass was never empty. Great service like hers makes all the difference.

Before leaving, I couldn’t resist trying a cup of their homemade Cream of Mushroom soup, and wow—Chris, you outdid yourself with that one. (I was told that Chris comes in everyday and make the soup) It was rich, flavorful, and the perfect finish to a fantastic meal.

This was my first visit, but it definitely won’t be my last. I’m already planning to come back for breakfast and dinner. This place is a rare find with an extensive menu of handmade dishes, and I sincerely hope they don’t change a thing.

If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in. You won’t regret it!

I believe in leaving honest reviews….so with that being said…today I took my husband out for lunch for a treat. I’ve been wanting to give Turnpike’s new owners a second chance. Last year we ordered some take out and it really wasn’t that great but they literally had just taken over so I overlooked it.
Todat upon entering we noticed how clean the dining area was and we were promptly greeted and seated.
My husband ordered the Giovanni Italian sub, I got the Black n Blue Burger and we splurged with the Fried Green Tomatoes app.
The Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer was excellent. It is served with a “roumalade” sauce but I personally felt like it was thousand island dressing. It didn’t matter because they were so good.
The Black n Blue Burger was honestly nothing exceptional. The presentation was nice and the bacon was cooked perfectly. It didn’t seem to be fresh ground beef, in fact, I would wager it was a frozen patty. It definitely was not worth $15 but this is the world we live in.
The Giovanni sub was the worst. We looked at the online menu ahead because my husband has brain cancer and has trouble talking. To save him some embarrassment I thought it would be easier for him to see exactly what he wanted.
Unfortunately, this sandwich looked absolutely nothing like what is advertised. It had very little meat and two slices of cheese…he ate only half and this picture is what we brought home. Again, definitely not worth $15.95.
Our server was exceptional…very kind. The restaurant is very clean.
It just left us feeling deflated in our expectations. Due to my husband’s cancer we are struggling financially and going out to eat like this is a rate treat. Our bill came to $48 for lunch. The only consolation was those delicious Fried Green Tomatoes. I recommended to our server that they try pairing them with cheesy grits like the Tupelo Honey Cafe in Asheville NC does. It sounds like a strange combination but it’s incredible.
So that’s my honest review. I feel bad for having to write it but the quality of the meals was not reflected in the price.

Turnpikes is a hidden gem in Spring Hill. This place is by far my family’s favorite place to get local food. My wife loves the Nashville hot chicken sandwich (not on the menu, but ask for it). My favorite is the banana fost pancakes. The French fries are the best I’ve ever had, I don’t know how they do it. My kids love it too, the cheeseburger and fries are their favorite. The staff are so friendly and nice and Chef Melissa is so talented in the kitchen. They also sell sourdough and cinnamon buns too!!!!

We stopped in while traveling and were pleasantly surprised by this tiny, charming spot! It’s full of personality, and my kids loved hunting for our home state on the license plate wall. Despite a packed house, the amazing woman running the front solo handled everything with ease—her service was top-notch. We lucked out with a burger deal, and everything we ordered was delicious. The only thing I didn’t love was the seasoning on the fries, but that’s just personal preference. I did love the potatoes salad! Definitely a great little stop if you’re in the area!
