The food itself was very good. Everything we ordered was fresh, well prepared, and flavorful, and the kitchen clearly knows what it’s doing.

What is disappointing is that Tupelo Honey has removed the collard greens from the menu. For a Southern restaurant, that is not a small change. The greens were a staple and one of the main reasons we came here. They were part of what made this place feel authentic and different from every other restaurant.

When you remove core Southern sides like that, you strip away part of the restaurant’s identity. Plenty of places can serve good food, but very few get the Southern classics right. That is what Tupelo Honey was known for, and without the greens, it loses a big part of what made it special.

The food is still good, but the experience is no longer what it used to be, and it makes the restaurant far less appealing than it once was.

I had the Fried Green Tomatoes. Delicious. My son had the Whiskey Onion Smash Burger and it was so good. The service was great. It was a lovely experience with great service. I didn’t get servers name but he is going to New Orleans for Halloween. Excellent service. Highly recommend.

Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar is a delightful gem that brings the heart and soul of Southern cuisine to Omaha! The warm, welcoming atmosphere perfectly complements the delicious dishes you’ll find on the menu.

The selection of Southern-inspired fare is extensive and beautifully executed. I highly recommend the fried chicken—it’s perfectly crispy and incredibly flavorful, served with delightful sides like mashed potatoes and collard greens. The shrimp and grits are another outstanding choice, combining rich flavors that transport you straight to the South.

The drink menu features a fantastic array of craft cocktails and a solid selection of wines. The peach bourbon smash is especially refreshing and pairs well with the savory dishes.

Service at Tupelo Honey is attentive and friendly, with staff who are genuinely enthusiastic about the menu and happy to make recommendations. The restaurant often has live music and a lively atmosphere, adding to the overall experience.

If you’re in Omaha, make sure to visit Tupelo Honey for a taste of Southern hospitality and incredible comfort food—you won’t be disappointed!

Tupelo Honey is a must-visit for the food and aesthetic. I loved the clean, open space with plants everywhere and the cutest wallpaper.

I had the sweet and spicy bone-in fried chicken, and it was messy but delicious—the kind of messy that means you’re doing it right. The honey flavor really came through, and I just wish they offered wet wipes or extra napkins at the table because you’re gonna need them!

I chose rosemary parmesan crispy potatoes, but I ended up trading for my partner’s regular fries, which were surprisingly incredible. Crispy, flavorful, and way better than your average side of fries. Idk what they did to them, but I’ll be back just for these.

My partner got the fried chicken sandwich, stacked high with pickles (which he loved). We also tried the Biscuits for a Cause—crumbly, nostalgic, and just like the baking powder biscuits my Southern great-grandma used to make. Served with butter and a blueberry compote that had whole berries, but honestly, we kept going back to the honey at the table—it was that good.

The sweet tea was just right—so sweet I could only handle one glass of it. Not watered down at all.

All in all, great food, lovely vibes, and true Southern flavor.

The food is always very good. This place is a short distance away from my job so I love to stop in on my lunch break and they have a great lunch specials menu. However, if you’re going to advertise as a lunch place with lunch break specials, you need to keep in mind that people have a short time to get lunch before they have to be back at work. The service here is always very very slow. We waited 10 minutes today and still didn’t have any service, I had to go ask a busser if we could see our server. There were barely any people in the restaurant so it wasn’t a matter of it just being very busy.

Then, trying to get any actual service was like pulling teeth. We waited forever for our drinks which were wrong, forever for our food, forever for a request for condiments, and forever for a box and the check. I have a hard time understanding this because the restaurant wasn’t even busy. Our server was in not rush and came out multiple times to do a lap around the restaurant after we had requested a box and the check. It’s seems we were just consistently forgotten about.

I am understanding if someone has an off day, I work in service too so I am very forgiving of servers messing up but I’m writing this review because this is the case everytime we come in, with every server, and it’s especially irritating when on your lunch break from work and you need to be back in an hour. It’s speaks to a wider issue with management and how servers are trained.

Don’t come here if you want quick and efficient service. We keep coming back for the food because it is really good but with each visit the service gets worse and worse and it’s starting to outweight how much we enjoy the food.

I was expecting more. I thought it lacked in spices. When I think southern I think spices. At the very least be lazy and throw in a dash of Old Bay or something. The fried brussel sprouts were on point tho. Plates were great in presentation and the place has a great atmosphere. Although I didn’t drink, the place has a huge liquor selection. I’ll think about going back but only if they let me bring in a bottle of Louisiana hot sauce.

What a delightful dining experience in all respects! We reserved on Open Table just a few hours prior. I requested a booth and we got a large booth right away before our reserved time. Our server was attentive but not overly and the food was delicious. Our favorite was the fried green tomatoes and grits. Grits were done perfectly which I highly recommend if you’ve never tried them. Grits are either really good or awful. These were perfect Southern. We also loved the Brussels sprouts. I also enjoyed the Josh specialty Cabernet. We’ll be back!

Fried Green Tomatoes
Well seasoned breading with basil
Mabe double breaded fried deliciously seasoned and Salted tomatoes , crispey breading that clings well to the tomatoe and the tomatoes isn’t soggy or mushy has just a ever so slight snap to it when you bite no bitterness from over used fryer oil witch means they change there oil often or we where hear early
The Sauce a nicely balanced tang with a hint of sour and creamy when eaten together it makes the dish pop with a beautiful balance of savory , tangy and sour with a hint of sweet then add in the creaminess of the grits it’s almost like ricotta

Fried pickles
Better then Texas road houses , nice and crisp with the thin breading and the butter milk is just delicious

Sides
Mac and cheese is deliciously cheeses mabe a house Madd cheese sauce or atleast a high quality restaurant factory sauce .
Nice springy elbow pasta well balanced salt levels and crispy topping

Onions rings
Almost perfectly Salted nicely crispy but not to crispy battered rings

Oakra
These are good , not slimy sometimes when Oakra isn’t done right they get slimy But these where fried just right

Fried chicken
MAN this is great fried chicken great flavored perfectly done breading with just a hint of honey or something for sweetness .

Meat Loaf
Deliciously balanced pork and mabe a lil beef almost perfectly Salted with a savory slightly sweet sauce with a nice light smack of black pepper spice and subtle seasonings that try to sneak by with a hint of smokenes
Great texture on the outside with not too soft on the inside

Pecan pie
My spouse burnt a pican pie that tasted better it was so overally sweet they had to use corn syrup and way too much. it makes a soda taste bland it had good texture though but the shear level of sweetness makes it so you cant taste any of the pecan or maple or the crust or anything other Then cornsyurp

combine the meatloaf into the Mac and cheese it’s sooooo damn good

Forgot to take pictures of the main dishes
The sides where the best
Atmosphere is great 5

This place has a great atmosphere and was a really great experience over the Christmas season. The staff was very friendly and considerate of families, and the prices were decent for a restaurant in Omaha. I ordered the fried pickles, which were delicious, and the Asheville Hot With Mac-N-Cheese chicken & waffles. The fried pickles were deliciously crunchy and tasteful, however, the waffle did not have the heat and full scope of flavor I was hoping to get. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience, but the main dishes need improvement if the establishment desires to cement itself into the local restaurant scene.

Brunch Review: The smothered chicken and biscuits and cold brew coffee with blueberry cold foam is the reason I’m giving this review 4 stars instead of 3. I would come back here just to have these two items. The fried chicken alone makes me want to come back and try other chicken dishes.

The brussel sprouts had nothing extra going on with them just good crispy brussel sprouts. I would order them again.

The sweet potato pancake was good. The pecans are spiced, so they do have a little heat, but the pancake is good enough on its own that if you don’t like spicy foods, you aren’t missing anything by leaving them off. As good as the sweet potato pancake is, you only get one, so I personally don’t think the meal is worth $14.

The farmhouse breakfast platter was lackluster. The scrambled eggs were one solid piece, and not actually scrambled. The potatoes looked amazing but needed more seasoning and flavor. The toast must have cooked on the flat top because the entire piece was hard and if it had cooked any longer it would been a crouton. The chorizo was AMAZING!

The service was great aside from the kitchen, which was struggling. None of our entrees came out at the same time and one entree was given to another table so it had to be re-fired. The waitstaff were great though and we had no other issues.
