Took German relatives for Southern food. The atmosphere is good but the heated patio we were on was a bit cool but quiet though full. Service was great, recommendation by the server were spot on. Drinks, followed by Fried Green Tomatoes, and our main courses (mine being the bourbon peppercorn glazed meatloaf with salad and grits) were great. No room for dessert ! After glasses were refilled as needed but no one hovered.
Highly recommend (recommended to us by our hotel valet-he will get an extra tip for that)!

First full day of exploring Asheville and we stopped here for lunch. Placed was packed and we didn’t have reservations, but thankfully there was a cancellation and we got right in! James our server was so nice and friendly! We’ve seen good things on YouTube about this place and it did not disappoint. We ate the biscuits before I could get a photo, but they were a great starter along with the fried green tomatoes! Our meals were all delicious and my wife loved her specialty moonshine martini! Thanks!

Absolutely disgusting gross!!!! The honey dusted fried chicken was over cooked on the outside and had this thick gross stuffing like crap half cooked in the middle. I asked if it was stuffing and the waitress said no their breading. The Mac and cheese was bland and noodles overcooked. My husbands chicken breast was so overcooked and hard he only ate a few bites. The staff at Tupelo were amazing on what seemed like a very busy Sunday evening. Everyone was pitching in to clear tables, get guests seated, and treated everyone with a welcoming disposition. Food was amazing too! Great service, great food, and great atmosphere!

My wife and I have made Tupelo Honey a must-stop every time we’re in Asheville for the holidays. As Southerners, we are incredibly picky about fried green tomatoes, but this is the first place we’ve found that actually does them the “correct” way.
The food is consistently excellent:
Shrimp & Grits: One of the best versions of this dish I’ve ever had.
Honey-Dusted Fried Chicken: My wife’s go-to—she gets it every single visit and loves it.
Cocktails: The dirty martini is solid, and the chocolate-mint espresso martini was a delicious seasonal surprise.
The only downside: Parking is a major challenge in this area. Definitely plan to arrive 20 minutes early just to find a spot. Aside from that, it’s a 10/10 experience!

We waited about 30 minutes for a table and 25 minutes for our food. The service was excellent and the ambiance was perfect for a relaxed Sunday brunch. The biscuits and cocktails were delicious, but my dark meat fried chicken was dry and the Caesar salad was bland, so overall the food didn’t live up to the long wait.

Knew nothing about the restaurant! Aesthetically beautiful so we came in! Food was amazing! Good southern style cuisine… But better than your usual! Service was outstanding from Spencer! Even helped us with other restaurants to explore in Asheville! Will be back!

I came here on my birthday looking at the many reviews but was utterly disappointed!
I am not sure if this was lack of service or skills or plain racism because tables beside us were being served pretty well and respectfully. We didn’t feel welcomed from the get go. At the end of the day, they aren’t offering a free meal.
Absolutely sad and disgraceful to see such racist behavior in 2025! Do better!
First impression – restaurant looks a bit dated, however that can be overlooked.
The smell of fried food is everywhere and is stuck to the clothes and came out smelling like a fried chicken. Please get a better exhaust!
Was sat at a table but we were ignored for more than 25 minutes with no service. No water for the table.
Appetizer arrived 15 minutes later – fried tomatoes – it was good.
Still No water offered despite reminder.
Mains arrived – Asheville hot chicken and chicken tenders – again it was good.
No water offered again.
The waiter for our table only stopped by once to get the food in. The tables around us were well tended to, because they were white ?

Great experience! I had the chicken and waffles and the rest of our party had the sweet & spicy chicken sandwich, tomato soup, and chicken Cesar salad. We also started with the biscuits and they were incredible. Try the peach jam with them.

We arrived for a late Saturday evening dinner. The atmosphere is phenomenally inviting and indicative of a country kitchen. The service was well above part despite it being a busier than expected late night for the waitstaff. The hostess stand and line to be seated however leaves something to be desired, and that process should be improved. We arrived with a reservation and several other diners that arrived after us without reservations were sat before us. That was the only blip on an otherwise very enjoyable dinner.
The menu was varied and provided good portions and value. We sampled over a half dozen different main and side dishes. Standouts included the sweet potato pancake, the crispy brussels and the smothered chicken. Also, the biscuits with a variety of butters and jams were an amazing introduction, and also benefit the Hurricane Helene relief effort. The standout of the show however was the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup. Far and away the best tomato soup we’ve ever had, even if you’re not a fan of the dish, it’s worth a try.
We would revisit again.
