I have been eating here for many years and have never been treated so disrespectfully by a staff member in my dining experience. We ordered a very specific item and even called before hand… when it arrived it was wrong and not edible. We called politely and asked for a refund or to have it made again. The staff member argued us and stop talking to us, leaving us on the line in silence. We had to hang up and tried calling back but she had blocked our number. Unbelievable and disgraceful behavior for a restaurant.

My boyfriend and I came in for a date and were told to seat ourselves.The food was decent for its price. But the service I received was terrible. I was immediately handed the bill a minute after receiving our food and was told to “take our time”. I know that usually people don’t pay until after you’re done eating so I was going to do just that. Five minutes later she came over and said “are you ready to pay”. Clearly we had barely touched our food and weren’t ready but I handed my card over anyway so I would no longer be bothered. She then comes over in the middle of taking my bite of food saying “I need your pin to your card”. I am being told to get up out of my chair while I am in the middle of eating to pay… seriously? I have never had this happen to me before and my boyfriend and I are younger. So I am only assuming they looked at us and figured we couldn’t pay and would just walk out after eating, therefore needing us to pay in that moment. I didn’t appreciate it and will not be going back.

We ordered curry tonight to take home, but when we eating it. I think I chewed something that is very hard and feels like metal. At first I thought it was fiber from vegetables, as I kept eating. I find out that was fragment from scrubber! Service was nice.

Tup Tim is more than the best Thai food in Salem – it’s among the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve spent a month traveling Thailand eating as much food as possible! Their dishes never disappoint, and the sauces especially are out of this world. Best peanut sauce ever, and the sweet dipping sauce is equally scrumptious with the fresh rolls. I especially love their inclusion of Khao Soy, a delicious noodle dish that is a northern Thai specialty. They do a brilliant job at it!!

On February 20, 2025, we had our second experience of finding a foreign object in our food at Tup Tim. We had a to-go order of fried egg rolls and found a 6″ piece of string in the egg roll. I called the restaurant to report this that night and left a message but in the two weeks that have passed no one has called us back. The first time this happened we found a hard piece of green plastic about 1-2″ long inside a fresh roll. We showed them and they offered us a free appetizer in return. We regret that we ever gave them a second chance and strongly encourage everyone to find other reliably clean and safe thai restaurants.

This was our first time ordering Thai food from this establishment. Overall a decent experience, despite not getting the correct order which we paid extra for.
Pros: Food quality is good. Fresh and good flavor. We received our order in a timely fashion. The sweetened Thai tea was delicious but overly sweet for my taste. (I recommend getting half sweet if you don’t have a big sweet tooth.)
Cons: We upgraded to noodles instead of rice (see pictures) but we’re given rice anyway. (This was inconvenient as we were all the way home before realizing their mistake.)
Again, overall not a terrible experience but it’s hard to change first impressions. We will probably go back to ordering from our usual Thai place as we haven’t experienced our errors with our orders there. I do understand mistakes happen. We might try this place again in the future and give them another shot.

I placed a delivery order. The Tom Yum Shrimp soup tasted very fresh and had the perfect amount of spice. The side of steamed vegetables was also very good! I could tell they were fresh vegetables and not frozen. I also enjoyed the chicken satay, flavorful and juicy.
