We ordered the fried beef with black pepper sauce, which was very good, full of flavor and well cooked. We also tried the spring rolls served with ice cream and something like pancakes, a very interesting and delicious combination that we truly enjoyed.
A special mention goes to Liz, who was incredibly nice, very attentive, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the meal. The service was warm and professional, which made the experience even better.
The food was delicious, the atmosphere pleasant, and the service excellent. I would definitely come back and highly recommend Tung’s Kitchen to anyone visiting Hanoi. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Phở looks wonderfully comforting! The rich, clear broth and tender slices of beef, topped with fresh herbs and scallions, promise an authentic and warming Vietnamese experience. A must-try!
Bánh xèo (savory pancake) is incredibly crisp and vibrant! The thin, turmeric-infused rice pancake, served with a bounty of fresh herbs and the tangy dipping sauce.
The fresh spring rolls (Gỏi Cuốn) are simply elegant. The translucent rice paper reveals the fresh mix of herbs, pork, and shrimp inside, making them a light, healthy, and incredibly refreshing starter. The presentation is stunning!
These deep-fried spring rolls (Chả Giò) look impossibly crispy and perfectly golden-brown! Served with that bright, tangy dipping sauce featuring pickled vegetables, they are the ideal appetizer—deliciously crunchy on the outside and savory inside.
The (Bún Chả} is presented beautifully, with the rich, aromatic broth full of grilled pork alongside the fresh noodles and greens. The flavors must be incredible—sweet, sour, and smoky—making it a deeply satisfying meal.
The glazed chicken dish and the gorgeous lemongrass skewers were both succulent, hearty, and beautifully balanced with fresh salads and rice/vermicelli, rounding out a perfect meal.
Exceptional Service from Harry
Harry, our waiter, made the Vietnamese rice paper demonstration a memorable event. He was incredibly patient with our clumsy attempts and kept us laughing with his humorous commentary about our wrapping skills! He spoke good English and was his excellent service was consistently applied to other tables as well.
The ambience at Tung’s Kitchen is wonderful. I highly recommend asking to be seated on Level 2. If you are dining as a couple, be sure to request a balcony seat to enjoy the view over the street while sipping your drinks—it adds a romantic touch to the evening.
The fact that I took the time to provide such a lengthy comment should be a solid testament. Go try if you are in Hanoi Old Quarters. Accepts visa/master.
Conor was really helpful in demonstrating the suggested way to eat. It’s like a spring roll that I put rice paper and put the vegetables, herbs, rice noodle, and fried fish in it, before rolling it as a spring roll. Then dip it in fish sauce to enjoy like how the locals would. My family got barbequed pork (Bun Cha) and sweet and sour pork, and we enjoyed the food. Surely would recommend to others when looking for local Vietnamese food.
The ambience is cozy with glass doors to see the street without the noise.
Ben was amazing and so attentive, and although I didn’t catch the name of the lovely lady at the front, she greeted us with the brightest smile and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in.
Such a wonderful dining experience — would 100% come back again and highly recommend! ✨
Special thanks to Martin for his outstanding service! He guided us through the menu with great passion and taught us the traditional way to enjoy each dish, making our meal even more memorable. If you’re in the Old Quarter, this 5-star gem is a must-visit for both the food and the hospitality!
We will definitely come back again!
