We got complimentary bruschetta that is toasted well and delicious. Tried the tuna ceviche for the first time. The lime juice gave it good flavor and was a good appetizer. The lobster risotto was delicious, the rice packed a ton of flavor and the grilled half lobster has a nice slight char flavor.
The only downside was the slow food service—but the place was packed, so the kitchen was likely just busy. We’ll definitely be back to try other menu items!
The restaurant was very nice and inviting inside and we had a fine table to view, look at and admire all the décor covering the walls. We ended up trying 2 different appetizers; the Andean Octopus (Wood grilled Spanish octopus, cucumber aioli sauce (Peruvian sauce), roasted potatoes, arugula onion salad) and the Mixto Ceviche (Shrimp, fish of the day, octopus, mussels, fresh lime juice, onions, fried yucca).
The Andean Octopus was fantastic, and the Mixto Ceviche was out of the world delicious. The Octopus was cooked perfectly and was so tender with delicious flavor. The Ceviche was the best Ceviche I have had in many years. It was as fresh as possible, and the serving size was certainly plenty. They do not skimp on portion size here.
For Entrees we ordered the Peruvian Paella (Shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, ½ wood grilled lobster tail, calamari, Jazmin rice, aji panca, red bell pepper) and the Lamb Osso Bucco (Peruvian style, braised lamb shank with aji amarillo, Peruvian beer, vegetables, cilantro, served with shiitake mushrooms risotto, white kidney beans).
The rice in the Paella had a wonderful light flavor to it and was cooked perfectly. It had plenty of seafood in it for an individual. I have to say the clams were pretty good size and were probably the best clam I’ve ever eaten. The Lamb Osso Bucco was also the best I’ve ever had. The lamb was braised perfectly, and the meat just fell off the bone. The sauce it was in was delicious as well. The shitake mushroom risotto was creamy, delicious and cooked perfectly.
For dessert we ordered the Panna Cotta ((Egg-less-custard) Madagascar Vanilla bean, milk, cream, gelatin) and the Homemade Ice Cream of the day which was passionfruit (a favorite flavor of mine). The Panna Cotta was light and creamy and came with a strawberry and a little bit of strawberry gelee. The Passionfruit Ice Cream was very delicious, and the two scoops were more than enough for dessert.
Overall, we had a very nice experience at Tumi and look forward to going again for sure. We are curious what the place looks like at nighttime with the lights on inside.
Overall I give this place a 5!
Regarding atmosphere, it was very neat and tidy, perfect for a date yet also casual enough for a quick family dinner. Service was great too!
After a 6-hour drive, we stopped here to grab a bite, and unfortunately, it was not a great first impression of what Cape Cod has to offer. Price wasn’t the issue, drinks were actually pretty good, but the food was a big disappointment. I ordered the Lomo Saltado, and it tasted overwhelmingly of soy sauce and was very dry. The fries and rice had no flavor at all. Being from Chile, I know what Lomo Saltado should taste like, and this was far from it. I didn’t finish my meal. Also, our waitress never checked on us or asked how the food was. The only bright spot was the gentleman cleaning table, his customer service was excellent and very respectful. Clone him! We won’t be coming back.
