Very accommodating to my allergies even with the price fixed menu through our tour package. The chef’s creativity with my hanger steak to make up for the lack of alliums was unexpected and absolutely delicious. Super big shout out to Victor for facilitating all this after I called ahead to alert them. He was attentive and thorough in explaining the foods they could modify within the limits of the Amtrak Vacations fixed menu.

The only deduction I would have is not even something they could do anything about, which is how often the smell of people smoking on the street as they walk by the door would waft in to where we were seated. So if you have sensitive lungs or nose, ask for a table far from the entrance.

We went for Christmas brunch and it was a mistake. Only one person liked one of the offerings that was the lamb the rest was subpar the server was amazing she was taking care of so many of us! It took a very long time to get anything. I understand it’s Christmas by we paid a small fortune to have a wonderful experience and good food. Completely different than another place of similar characteristics. Where we replaced to sit, I had a Christmas tree poking me the entire time. It was a select menu for Christmas which we were fine with but the food was tasteless and our fish was dry, the duck needed flavor and the overall portions were appetizer size in my opinion. We went to several fancier restaurants this trip and this was by far the worst experience. Veterans they do not offer a military discount just FYI. We didn’t expect that for Christmas but this is a normal thing they don’t offer on any day. I was just really surprised that a restaurant is historic as this one actually made us feel like we should feel privileged to be there where another fancy restaurant made us feel like kings and queens. Not on our next visit agenda. The second photo shows the tree that was poking me the whole time. I have to give kudos to the server again because she did not have the help she needed for that whole area and that was disappointing, long wait times Cold bread, but how can we be upset with the server it wasn’t her fault. We did what we could to make the best of it.

Warning! We only went for a Thanksgiving special dinner. Staff did their best given the circumstance. Food was good but not super memorable compared to other New Orleans restaurant, but the service and ambience were excellent!

Christmas Eve lunch and we a lot of reviews before coming as a family of 7! Ray and Charles were super friendly and full of smiles with our second floor dining experience. I was able to reserve over the phone and wish I could remember who took my phone call because he was absolutely helpful. The duck was the family favorite!

We came here because a local told us to try their bread pudding and it was pretty good. Nothing special but I thought bread would be a bit more fluffy and the ice cream on top helped a lot we also had their cream brulee

A group and I visited this location for vacation and paid a relatively tidy sum for a nice experience. We left without that nice experience. Our waiters treated us with what felt like disdain, prioritizing other guests and ignoring us. The first thirty minutes all we had on our table was a dish of butter and nothing else. We had to grab a waiter’s attention so that we could even get bread and of course we get their looks like we are being rude for even asking for service. We had a 2 hour open bar but we all only managed to get about two drinks and that is by having to be “rude” to get the service we paid for. We were place in a small table in the middle of the dining floor, feeling like an exhibit for all the dining locals that seemingly haven’t seen people like us. Just about every other table was absolutely sloshed, meanwhile we are fighting to get just one more drink. Over all, this experience left me disturbed, truly. It was worse than just bad service, it was a collective of people making us feel unwelcomed for… reasons…

I walked in on a cold rainy Sunday afternoon at about 5 PM. I ordered the gulf fish which tonight was drum. I found the fish to be mild, flaky and cooked perfectly as were the roasted fingerling potatoes and the perfectly crisp tender green beans. The buttery crawfish sauce was a perfect touch on top of the slightly blackened fish. There were three small bones in the fish. Servers were great. I was here the night before and they also have a great happy hour.

Had a sunday brunch and wow! The reason I come to New Orleans shows up, boom! Great Southern hospitality and lots of great menu selections including plenty of boozy and bougie stuff. Friendly and polite waitstaff and hosts. Back of the house rocking plates of Pain Perdu and Eggs Bennie with fried green tomato. Plenty of specials and front bar shaking the cocktails early!

Dont miss this place tucked down at 429 Decatur St. There’s multiple reasons why they’ve been around since 1856. Go see for yourself, I’ll see you there.
