The BEST service on Tug Hill. We sat at the bar and I could not believe the attentiveness and speed of the bartender. Teriyaki chicken wrap came out outstanding. Everyone is friendly and nice. A MUST stop!

We had an incredibly disappointing experience at Tug Hill Hideaway tonight. My family and I arrived at 6:30 p.m., and our drink order wasn’t taken until 6:45 p.m. We didn’t get our food order taken until 7:00 p.m., even though we were ready to order much earlier. Our waitress later told us that 15 take-out orders had been prioritized ahead of us, even though we were seated in the dining room. We ended up being one of the last tables to have our order taken, despite arriving early.
There was a table of six, along with tables of two and four all of them received their food before we did. Some of these groups arrived after us too. We didn’t get our food until 8:00 p.m. a full 90 minutes after we arrived. That’s completely unacceptable. We had children with us who were so tired they actually fell asleep waiting for their meals. I repeatedly asked the waitress when we could place our order, and each time she said she’d be back soon, but kept disappearing for long stretches.
It seems like the restaurant was prioritizing take-out orders over people dining in, which I find incredibly frustrating. If you’re going to be busy, you need to communicate to take-out customers that it’ll be a while, something like, “It will be 45 minutes or more for take-out orders” would have been the responsible thing to do.
When I told the waitress we were ready to leave and would only be paying for drinks and appetizers, she went to check with the kitchen. She came back to say our food was finally being plated. While she did apologize for the long wait, the owners never came out to speak with us, apologize, or offer any sort of compensation. They did absolutely nothing to make the situation right didn’t take anything off our bill, didn’t offer a discount, nothing. They still made us pay full price after waiting as long as we did.
Unacceptable. Such poor management and complete lack of customer care. We will never be back.

Have been to Tug Hill many times, but just found this spot on our last trip and it was awesome! A bit tricky to find – don’t give up! 🙂 Great food and drinks and super nice people!

The reality is, a lot of their customers are a captive audience driving ATV’s, etc. to get there. There aren’t a lot of places to eat in that area, which is still no excuse for this place.
Let’s start with the French Onion Soup. The flavor wasn’t bad, but someone left the blowtorch on it a little too long, and there wasn’t enough cheese.
The Texas Toast Burger…dry and lacking in the toppings as given on the menu. I think it was bacon and onions. The patty was super thin and overcooked. Plus, if you’re going to use giant slices of bread, then make the burger bigger. Oh wait, they can’t because it’s a frozen patty.
Fried Cheese Curd…the curd they use is not local because there wasn’t much substance to a lot of the fried pieces. Real north country cheese curd is big and meaty. Some of the pieces were even hollow like the cheese was cooked right out of them. They seemed hand-battered, but I’m not sure.
Last, but not least, the Toro Poutine…the lone bright spot…good fries, good gravy, there was a decent amount of meat, etc. and what looked more like real north country cheese curd.
The bill was way too expensive for the quality of the food. In addition to the pics, we got one other French Onion Soup, a burger that was weak too, 4 beers, and the total was $75. My best advice? Only eat there if you’re hungry and riding an ATV. Lol

Don’t do it.flat Soda and you could smell the bathroom from the dinning room.not good.we only order onion rings to be nice after flat Soda and they were very grease but the waitress was very pleasant .

Stopped in for some food and had the Wisconsin Burger…..it was excellent, great service and friendly staff. I will definitely be going back next snowmobile season!

The BEST food, atmosphere, service and prices around! The owners are outstanding, and very easy to have a conversation with! Thankfully they’ve turned this place into a go to restaurant, instead of a place to avoid(old owners) keep up the amazing work and thanks for the great food and times on the hill since opening!
