Tu Madre absolutely understands how to do vegan food right.
I came in specifically to try their plant-based options and left genuinely impressed. The Vegan Fried Avocado Taco was unreal — perfectly crispy tempura on the outside with that buttery avocado center. The sweet n sour and poblano ranch slaw brought the perfect tangy balance. Texture on texture on texture.
The Vegan Banh Mi Taco surprised me in the best way. The tofu is marinated for 36 hours and you can taste it. Seasoned, flavorful, and paired beautifully with the pickled carrot and crispy kale. It’s bright, balanced, and not heavy.
And the standout for me was the Vegan Spicy Jackfruit Carnitas Burrito. As someone who loves jackfruit, this hit. It’s hearty, comforting, and layered with flavor — the vegan crema and turmeric brown rice pull everything together. It honestly satisfies that classic “carnitas burrito” craving without missing a beat.
The menu creativity, the flavor depth, and the fact that vegan options aren’t an afterthought here really sets Tu Madre apart. Whether you’re vegan or just exploring plant-based, this is worth the stop.

This place was a cute little fast casual spot with limited seating outside. They serve Mexican fusion food and let me tell you, EVERYTHING I had was so good!!
Elizabeth took my order and she was very helpful and gave the best recommendations.
I got the truffle guac, carne asada bowl with half rice half kale, mini summer squash quesadilla, chicken street tacos, crispy fish taco, and the red velvet churros.
Everything was absolutely delicious. The tacos were very flavorful and the bowl was surprisingly my favorite thing.
I would come back again!

As someone who’s tried a wide spectrum of taco spots from street stands to Michelin, I was pleasantly surprised (and honestly a little salty it took me this long) to discover @tacostumadre right in my own neighborhood. This festive, casual spot specializes in modern Mexican fusion, with innovative culinary takes on Mexican cuisine starting from their iconic fried chicken taco. With over a dozen different protein and plant-based options that you can order as a taco, burrito or bowl, there’s definitely something for everyone on their menu.
I stopped by the Westwood location, but there’s also locations in Brentwood, Santa Monica, Weho, Larchmont and Los Feliz. It was really easy to find street parking around that area on the weekend at lunchtime, but they also have a $5 valet lot next to the restaurant. Service was SO nice, and I really appreciated how they took the time to quickly yet meticulously prepare every dish + gave me free chips and salsa with my order.

This location is different compared to the West Hollywood location, which is more of a sit down dining experience. The Westwood restaurant is more of a fast casual outdoor dining. Where you order from a hole in the wall. They’ve got a variety to choose from- tacos, burritos, bowls, plant based items, sodas, and agua frescas.
We got some grilled fish, crispy fish, and crispy shrimp tacos. My favorites were the crispy fish and shrimp tacos. They were super tasty. I also really enjoyed my crispy fish bowl. It came with kale, rice, beans, corn and tomato. This was a really good bowl. My friend got the carne esada burrito. I took a bite and it was absolutely delicious.
We washed it down with our hibiscus and cucumber Aqua frescas. The hibiscus is on the sweet side, whereas the cucumber it was really refreshing like you just came out of a spa.
I would definitely come back again. What’s also great if you’re lucky, they do have parking. Otherwise there’s street parking.

Tu Madre Westwood is a great spot for a quick taco, burrito, or bowl that actually hits. Everything tastes fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without feeling heavy.
The agua frescas are super refreshing, perfect for a warm LA day.
Shoutout to Maria at the front window. She’s incredibly helpful and gives amazing recommendations if you’re not sure what to order.

Stopped by late night and tried a couple of their signature tacos plus the birria nachos. Portions are huge and definitely shareable.
The setup is super casual with outdoor seating and a walk-up window to order, so it’s more of a grab-and-go or quick sit situation than a full dine-in experience. Would’ve loved an agua fresca option, but unfortunately they didn’t have any when we went.
Overall, a solid choice for late-night tacos in Westwood if you want generous portions and an easy, low-key stop.

Ordered through Uber Eats. 1.5 hours later, they finally answer their phone and say they’re closed. Also told me it’s not their problem call Uber Eats. But yet they accepted the order. Took me another 30 mins to finally get Uber Eats to cancel the order. I like the food but this experience and service is awful. Fix your app and don’t blame Uber Eats when you accepted the order.

This location has no system and it’s been over a year of this. There’s just one tiny window that is neither ADA nor child/short person friendly, and they don’t announce when your order is ready. Every other restaurant has figured out a system except this spot.
