My niece and I arrived at Tsunami around 4:30 PM. At that time, there were only two people in the bar area and no one seated in the dining room. We were seated immediately, and our server promptly introduced herself and took our drink orders. I also placed an appetizer order at that time.

After receiving our drinks, we provided our entrée selections, and the server left. It took approximately 30 minutes for our spring rolls to arrive, and the chicken wings took even longer—over 30 minutes. Considering the restaurant was not busy, the delay was surprising.

Our main courses were served after we had been waiting for more than an hour. I tried to remain patient, but the server frequently disappeared for extended periods. A larger party arrived after us, received their meals and left well before we did.

When asked about dessert, I ordered a fried cheesecake to go. The server was gone for over 20 minutes and returned asking if we wanted dessert—despite my earlier order. When the cheesecake finally arrived, it was cold, indicating it had been sitting for quite some time.

Upon requesting the check, I noticed an 18% gratuity had been added. This was frustrating given the slow service and lack of attentiveness. When questioned, the server first claimed the system was down and this was the only way to close the ticket, then stated gratuity is added to orders over $50. There was no signage or menu note indicating this policy. Poor service does not warrant an automatic tip.

A manager eventually approached and asked what I wanted to pay. I agreed to pay for the food ordered, but by then it was 6 PM—an hour and a half for two people is excessive. We spent more time waiting than eating.

I don’t mind tipping for great service or waiting when a restaurant is busy, but this experience was unacceptable. The food was lukewarm at best, except for the wings, and the rice lacked seasoning. While the server was pleasant, the service was extremely slow, and the explanations about the system seemed questionable.

I have tried to give Tsunami multiple chances, but after today, I will not return.

Very odd experience this past Saturday. We’ve been to this location several times and I doubt they care but we won’t return. Walked in around 7:15pm and no lie did not have food in front of us until after 9:15pm. The host said it was a 30min wait and we said that was fine but then she had a attitude and asked table or booth. So my husband told her table (it’s 6 of us). The host then says “we only have booths”. At this point it’s apparent they don’t want us there and we probably should have left but we proceeded anyway. Our servers comes to our booth and can clearly see it wasn’t gonna work and asked us if we were comfortable to which we said not really bit it’s cool. She then tells us it’s a open table by the bar and trys to sit us there. Very kind. Welp not the management and the host are telling her no and then comes to me saying they don’t recommend high tops to families with children. At no point were me and my family anything other than understanding and chill but something was just off about the workers for sure. Eventually a couple ask us if we wanted their table as it was just 2 of them and they’d take the both we are now sitting at again. We agree as they were very kind. Kid you not things got worse from there. At this point it’s 7:48. By 9:02 we get our soup and salad and told they didn’t have anymore clean utensils but the 2 forks and 1 spoon given to us (ITS 6 OF US). The forks were still dirty. We asked for plastic ware. Our appetites were spoiled by all this and by the time the food came out we were almost afraid to even eat it. We should have left when they’re was commotion about the seating arrangement but we tried. Never again though. I have pictures with time stamps and of course they have receipts if service but again I doubt they care if we return or not

The Yaki Udon noodles plate is my favorite and I definitely recommend it! I always get steak and scallops as the protein but you can choose whichever. The staff is awesome and always friendly.

Miranda is a fantastic server! She goes out of her way to make special requests happen and always has a smile on her face! She remembers our extra sauces, is so personable and friendly! Even when we came in late, she never rushed us or made us feel unwelcome. We willask for her every time we visit!

The owner Tess is one beautiful and classy lady with such a caring soul for the culture of amazing food and sharing her culture! She even brought us some of her homemade Kimchi which was the best we have ever had! The food is always so fresh and delicious! It comes out fast and correct! Love the atmosphere and decor, which is modern but has a touch of romantic vibes due to the lighting and wall features. This place went down for a while but it’s back and now one of my favorite places to eat in the Harbison area!

The food and service were pretty good!! My server was very attentive!! I ordered the NY strip and shrimp hibachi, spring rolls, and fried cheesecake. The only complaint was there were only 8 chunks of steak in the dish, and I expected more for the price. The peach martini was delicious, and the sweet tea was also delicious!

Really disappointing, especially compared to other Tsunami locations. This is my third visit to this location, and it was only because other sushi in the area had 45+ min waits and this location had none.

The dining area is very awkwardly spaced out in a way I can’t really describe. Service quality is mixed and I honestly feel bad for the server we got because she had to play hostess while the 17 year olds (I would think) that should have seated us were flirting at their “staff table” with all their personal drinks and belonging and the server couldn’t help but make comments about it while seating us.

Outside of that, the service was good. It took about 45 mins despite having a small crowd but the server also gave us a heads up that it would be a while. Food was okay but pretty disappointing how different their menu is from the core location in the Vista.

Great server! But sushi was terrible. Dried out and discolored. Ate two pieces before realizing becoming sick to my stomach due to overly fishy taste. Asked the owner and he said it was dried out and old looking because sushi comes in frozen. Sent the sushi back. The noodles were good though.

Best Japanese restaurant in Columbia. Food and service was AMAZING! All of the staff clearly works so hard. Our server had multiple large tables and still kept up the amazing service although extremely busy. The atmosphere is great and food was even better. No complaints. 10/10
