We’re from Marshalltown, and unfortunately the Chinese food options back home just don’t quite hit the mark. So we decided to give this place a try… and wow, what a surprise! This restaurant completely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, the staff taking our order were incredibly patient, kind, and genuinely helpful.
The fried spring rolls tasted homemade and were perfectly crispy and delicious. ✨ And the egg drop soup? Absolutely amazing. It had that comforting, homemade flavor with a rich, savory broth and generous bits of vegetables and chicken in every spoonful. You can really tell they care about quality and flavor.
We left happy, full, and already talking about our next visit. ❤️ I honestly can’t wait to go back again!

Stopped in for dinner. The store was not as clean as I would have liked. I was not greeted when I walked in. I didn’t think the staff was friendly.I had the sweet and sour chicken, and my guest had the beef and broccoli. The food was hot and fresh. I didn’t really care for the atmosphere. 2/10 would recommend.

I keep giving this place another chance and continue to be disappointed. Today the chi Ken was literally smaller than the pineapple pieces. Tiny chunks of breading, no meat. The crab Rangoon was so hard and stale at 2 PM that I almost broke my tooth off. The chef came out of the kitchen all sweaty and wearing just a tank top. You should t be able to see the cooks sweaty armpit hair. Tired of wasting my money here.

We’re from Marshalltown, The Chinese restaurant there is sadly lacking. Thought we’d try this place. OMG! This place is wonderful. Folks taking orders were patient and helpful. The fried spring rolls were homemade and delicious. The eggdrop soup tasted homemade, with rich broth and bits of vegetables and chicken. I can’t wait to go there again.

They have great food. Ive eaten around and its mostly all good, but ive been wanting garlic chicken like it used to be… CHUNKS not slabd. Its made IMO using dark meat as well whereas the other is just slabs of dry, overcooked breastfeeding meat…

We order from East frequently. Food is always ready on time. Very rarely do we ever have an issue with our order. Personnel are always helpful and take care of everything we need. Egg rolls, Sesame Chicken, Empress Chicken & Mongolian Beef are our favorites. Highly recommend.

I have been going to this restaurant forever. 30 plus years to be exact. I love the food there. I love the owners. This is definitely the best fast Chinese food in Des moines. Unfortunately I do not go as often anymore. The reason for this is that sometimes they give you two scoops of rice and other time is the only give you one. Many people in my family prefer to go to Chinese restaurants that always give me two scoops. I I ordered the bigger quart size today in hopes of getting two scoops of rice. It was given to me in the regular container. With only one scoop of rice. I’m sure if they went back to giving two scoops of rice their business would increase. I’ve heard others mention this as well. Good luck to you. And thank you for having the best Chinese food in Des Moines!

Got some take out the other day and it was my first time eating here . I got orange sesame chicken with fried rice with veggies combo and it was perfect. The chicken tasted fresh and well cooked . The rice was made perfect not over cooked or under cooked . I definitely will go back again.
