We were at a restaurant nearby and wanted to get some coffee so we drove across the street and went to Trung Nguyen. We got here around 10 am on Black Friday. Pretty busy, all the tables inside and outside all taken. Also quite a line but it ended up going quickly. We ordered the Regular Vietnamese Egg Coffee and the Regular Vietnamese Coffee with Condensed Milk. The Vietnamese Egg Coffee was very tasty but also sweeter than the Coffee with Condensed Milk. Overall nice Vietnamese coffee and would like to try other things here.

This place is amazing!

The coffee shop has a very aesthetic appearance, and has you feeling the “French influenced” Vietnamese-Styled culture. The coffee here is absolutely amazing. I got the Vietnamese Iced Coffee (Cafe Sua Da) and it was absolutely delicious! Definitely one of the best Vietnamese Iced Coffees I’ve ever had.

This placed was packed, but the wait was not long and the service and quality of the drinks is amazing. Highly recommend for coffee lovers!

As someone who grew up in Vietnam in the 1990s, I’ve known the Trung Nguyên Legend brand for decades. Back then, their cafés were considered upscale — especially popular among older Vietnamese who took their coffee seriously. I remember iconic locations like the one across from Đầm Sen on Hòa Bình Road. I was too young to sit down at one of those cafes then, but the impression of “elevated Vietnamese coffee culture” stuck with me.

Now living in the U.S., I finally had the chance to experience a Trung Nguyên Legend café in person, this time in Westminster. I ordered the signature Legend Coffee and Vietnamese milk coffee — both priced higher than typical fast-serve coffee options, which I expected from this premium brand.

The flavor was bold and unmistakably strong. I brew Vietnamese coffee at home every day using a traditional phin filter with beans imported from small-town producers back in Vietnam, so I’m used to this style. But this blend from Trung Nguyên was noticeably more intense, with a richer bitterness and a thicker mouthfeel — almost nostalgic.

It brought back vivid memories of old rituals: a roadside black coffee, a cigarette in hand, and a quiet morning. I’ve quit smoking for years, but this cup almost made me crave that pairing again. That says something about how powerfully it connects to the cultural roots of Vietnamese coffee habits.

Experience-wise, I’d say the shop leans more modern and fast-casual than what I imagined from the original Trung Nguyên cafés. Maybe it’s the smaller footprint, or the contemporary design — it didn’t quite capture the slower, contemplative vibe I associate with the brand back in Vietnam. There, the shops were large, atmospheric, and set up for people to sit for hours. This one felt more like a stylish coffee stop than a place to linger long.

That said, it was still a meaningful experience — especially for anyone familiar with Trung Nguyên’s legacy. It delivers on quality and cultural flavor, even if the U.S. version feels a bit more streamlined for modern convenience.

The legendary Trung Nguyên Legend Cafe, a household name in Vietnam, finally made its U.S. debut right here in Little Saigon, CA in September 2023 and finally I made it to check it out over the weekend.

The vibe is chic. Outdoor seating is available.

Their Legend Coffee (aka coffee with condense milk, $9.50) was honestly impressive, smooth, rich, and with a natural sweetness that lingers after each sip. The whole experience was on point too! The staff served it beautifully plated, completed with a complimentary biscuit and a gorgeous postcard. If you’re looking for something classic, their Vietnamese Coffee ($5.50) is also a solid pick. Next time, I’m definitely coming back to try their Vietnamese Egg Coffee!

A Few Tips:
• Closes early at 5:00 PM, so plan your visit accordingly.
• Parking in front fills up fast, and your best bet is to park behind the 7-Eleven in the plaza where there’s more space.

There’s something about Trung Nguyên that just feels rooted. It’s not just a coffee shop — it’s part of Vietnamese culture. The kind of place where the roast speaks louder than the branding. Bold, deep, unapologetically strong. It doesn’t chase trends — it sets them.

This isn’t your sweet, fluffy boba drink. This is Vietnamese coffee the way it’s supposed to be — roasted dark, layered with energy, and just the right kick of legacy. The phin coffee here reminds you what real drip is. Their egg coffee? Smooth, creamy, but still carries that weight underneath.

It’s one of the oldest and most respected names in the Vietnamese coffee world — and you can taste why. You don’t just sip it. You feel it.

Come for the strength. Stay for the silence between sips.
A legend for a reason.

1. The matcha drink was well-crafted as I could really taste the banana in the cream top!
2. The spot has busy casual vibes with a crowded interior!
3. The staff was friendly and timely with my order! It was ready in 5 mins!
Note: There is a restroom available for customers!

I’d only stop by here whenever I’m in the area. My go-to location is the ‘Trung Nguyen E-Coffee’ (off on Euclid & 5th Street in Santa Ana) because that place offers a bit more variety of drinks (coffee/tea/fruit fusion mixed).

Glad they now have ‘Egg Cream Coffee’ as a hot drink where you can really savor the taste vs. the iced coffee version (it’s still good but great to have a hot drink option). Sweetness level can be adjusted upon request.

Pandan Milk Tea with Lotus seeds (the only tea drink on the menu) was tasty (ordered 50% less sweet – that’s the lowest sweetness level they can go… ). Great for anyone who are non-coffee drinker.

Coconut Iced Coffee was ok. Quite a faint coconut taste in the drink. It basically felt like a coconut scented iced latte. I recommend either ‘Triple Coco Coffee Ice blended’ drink over at ‘Kei Coffee House’ (off on Brookhurst – Westminster location) or Young Coconut Blended Coffee over at ‘ViLand Coffee’ (Bolsa Avenue – Westminster location) where you can really taste actual coconut meat in the coffee drinks ☺️

Trung Nguyen Legend Cafe is fantastic! We tried a few different items during our visit: the Legend Coffee (dine-in only), ube waffles, avocado smoothie, and a lemongrass iced tea (I think that’s what it was). Everything was top-notch!

The Legend Coffee was my favorite—it’s bold and strong, just the way I like it. They serve condensed milk on the side, so you can adjust the sweetness to your taste. My only wish is that they’d give you a bit more coffee because it’s that good!

The ube waffles were phenomenal—perfectly crispy on the outside with a soft, mochi-like texture inside. A must-try!

My daughter ordered the avocado smoothie, which was smooth and creamy but not sweet, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for a sweeter drink.

My wife had the lemongrass iced tea (I believe), and it was incredibly refreshing and light.

The cafe does get busy, so it can feel crowded inside, but they keep the space clean and tidy despite the rush. Overall, we had a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend checking them out!

Eggcellent Vietnamese coffee. The place reminds us of cafe in Vietnam where you just hang out and chat. The egg coffee is thick and creamy. The butterfly pea is a unique non-caffeine option. They have the popular banana matcha latte too but we didn’t try it. Prices are good the only negative thing is the parking. If there’s not enough parking you will have to park down the side street, FYI. Overall, it’s worth a try but there are many egg coffee places in Westminster too so we can’t say it’s the most unique must try cafe place.

Love their coffee and so many Delicious varieties. I’ve tried it in Vietnam now it’s in America which make it easier for me to enjoy without the fat travel . The best coffee in my opinion . Especially the egg coffee , you can make it less sweet by choice also . This place never disappoints and great customer service with patience explaining the drink details to customers .
