Best brisket just about anywhere. Especially in the baked potatoes. You wouldn’t think this is where you find the best brisket in Texas but I’ve been here 20 times of not ore when passing through from San antonio and its always as good as the last and service is great.

The Brisket and Pork ribs were great. They did not need extra seasoning or salt. The tenderness and juicy of the meats were on key.

This is a casual restaurant inside HEB. The food was good and I liked most of it. I just wasn’t a fan of the pickle coleslaw. I also thought that the brisket could have been a little hotter in temperature. The service was excellent.

Didn’t have the lean brisket that I wanted. The food was warm, not hot. The Customer Service was OK, but could’ve been a little bit more friendlier and pay attention to me as a customer and not the other associates around him. The pricing was also very deceptive. I thought I was paying $14 for a two meat plate and had to go back to realize it was $14-$25, the associate could’ve explained the price and the differences.

Don’t let the grocery store location fool you, this is great barbecue!
True Texas BBQ is grocery giant H-E-B’s foray into the barbecue world, and it’s really amazing. All the meats are smoked in-house, and are delicious. Their baked potatoes topped with different meats are extra filling. The sides are great, too, with rotating seasonal desserts being an extra treat. Staff are friendly and helpful. Pro tip: come earlier rather than later because they will often sell out of the more popular items.

We have friends who live nearby this HEB grocery store and the True Texas BBQ cafe located here is their go-to place for BBQ lunch. We ate here twice in a week visit because it was outstanding! The brisket sandwiches are extremely good! They also have a daily special posted which is a “can’t go wrong” order. DELICIOUS ! The sides are very good too and very fresh. The cafe is in the HEB supermarket so it does get busy but we were always able to get a seat. HEB is also an outstanding grocery store! Makes us want to live nearby! TRY IT !
