True Texas BBQ at 1670 E Broad St, Mansfield, TX 76063
Had a very interesting surprise today at H-E-B finding out they had a barbecue restaurant in the store. I was here to check prices on the brisket and found out cooked brisket was on sale inside of “True Texas BBQ”. The brisket is typical brisket that is served at restaurant quality that is seasoned just enough so you can sell it to a lot of people. The meat was good and well prepared. To me the sides was the the star ⭐ They had some collard greens and some coleslaw that was excellent. The barbecue sauce took the brisket up to another level. Definitely if you’re shopping in H-E-B and you’re hungry for some good barbecue you’re already in the right place.

A coworker told me that the brisket at Buc-ee’s was better. But, he grew up in Chicago AND this is HEB we’re talking about. Let me start by saying that the employees were great. But the food definitely didn’t meet my expectations ESPECIALLY when we’re talking $23 for lunch.
I chose the fatty brisket so hopefully it wouldn’t be too dry. There was a slight smoke flavor to it – but it still needed bbq sauce to give it some more flavor. The sausage had no smoke flavor…really not much flavor at all. The mac n cheese was good. The banana pudding (chosen as one of my side items) was probably some of the worst I’ve had in the past year or so. The Nilla wafers were soggy, there were exactly two pieces of a banana – each about the size and thickness of a quarter. Would I eat here again? Probably not for these prices.

Davion was a great cashier!! His customer service was excellent.! We were literally blown away. We will definitely comeback to see Davion because of how he treated first timers and answered all our questions! Ps the food is amazing!!

I travel for a living while visiting one of my sites, I wanted BBQ. So I googled to find a place close to where I was with a decent rating. I came across this place. My 1st experience was great. So much so that I ordered food from them again two weeks later. This time it was horrible. The corn bread was burnt, the chopped beef with sauce was extremely salty, and my plate was thrown together so much so that the beans and greens were twins instead of two separate sides. I was highly disappointed. I wanted to make a post about the food not only being good but also being consistent. Unfortunately, that is not this review. I may visit again, through Uber Eats like before, but I need the food to be like it was the 1st time. I can not and will not pay for burnt overly salted food.
Update: The store did contact me and we discussed my issues. Needless to say they offered to make it right. I let them know that it was not necessary. I did order two weeks later and food was back to the way I first experienced it. I think they were just having an off day but now understands that to have great customers, means to give great service and experiences EVERY TIME!!

We purchased our dinner through drive-through servic at Mansfield Texas BBQ located with an H-E-B store. The lady at drive-through was very welcoming and informative, and she went through the detail of our order to make sure we order our food properly. She was so welcoming and helpful that we ask her name. her name was honey, and our experience was best ever drive-through experience. Waited at the drive-thru speaker for 7 minutes with no response. When I pulled to the window, the cashier told me he “wasn’t ready” and was rude when I offered to go back around. I ordered three brisket sandwich combos with sauce on the side — he rolled his eyes when I reminded him. Got home and the brisket was burnt and inedible. Spent $42 on food we couldn’t eat. Really disappointing first experience. Staff definitely needs better customer service training.

The brisket sandwich with mac and cheese was the highlight — juicy, smoky, and full of that melt-in-your-mouth texture brisket should have. Each bite had a nice bark and just the right amount of seasoning, making it hearty and satisfying.
The pulled pork sandwich was tender and a bit dry. The sauce tied it together nicely without overpowering the pork, giving it a great balance of sweet and tangy.

I had the pleasure of visiting True Texas BBQ in Mansfield, Texas for the first time, and I have to say—it was the best experience I’ve had in a while. From the moment I walked in, Izzie went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcome. She was incredibly professional, friendly, and helpful, patiently answering my questions and guiding me through the menu.
Her excellent service really stood out and made my first visit memorable. On top of that, the food was absolutely amazing—everything was flavorful, fresh, and cooked to perfection. I’ll definitely be back, and I hope Izzie is there to help again. Great job to the whole team!
