Chill vibe/ambiance with nice furniture, especially for a sandwich shop. Ordered several sandwiches with chips. All were tasty & quality, though portions could be larger given their prices. Would go back!

One of my favorite lunc spots in chapel hill! Delicious sandwiches and salads, the pizzas are a new addition. Everything is build your own which I love – wish they could take Apple Pay tho (they only allow online order but if you want your food to go and a drink there you have to do 2 separate orders).
Chocolate chip cookie is underrated from TRU (I am a pastry snob this is one of the only cookies I will buy)
I am all for atmospheric lighting, but it’s a bit dark even for me. Instead of moody it’s just hard to see but outside is better. I wish they put the cushions on the large outdoor chairs bc the picnic tables upstairs fill up quick!
I don’t love the char from a woofired pizza and the ones I’ve tried from here have a fair amount of that.

TRU is a great place to stop for lunch! The outdoor is beautiful and lovely to sit in during spring. The sandwiches/salads are fresh and pretty quick to arrive. I wish there was a better wine selection for being a wine bar, but it was okay. They are not open super late. It seems like a great place to come to work in the afternoon with a laptop.

Cozy, warm atmosphere with sofas and warm lighting. Nice seating and tasty sandwiches.
Biggest problem was ordering— when inputting credit card information, you can’t see your card information while typing and on some devices you can’t place the order and the website won’t tell you why you can’t place an order. It was frustrating and I had to use a friend’s phone to order.
P.S. the chocolate chip cookies are very hard.

Food was exceptionally great. Turkey on toasted sour dough. Mixed drinks subpar. Service lacking friendless to new patrons. Food is delivered to you and your done. No more correspondence. Atmosphere is listening to “valley girls” complain about if tonight is going to be busy. When one of the girls leaves the group to help a patron the others talk about them. This happens each time a different girl leaves the group conversation.

Meet a large group of friends to celebrate a 21st bday with cocktails and fellowship. Lovely shared table space with a bartending team that attended to all your drink needs. They allowed us to bring in a birthday cheesecake to share. Fabulous experience.

I’ve been to tru a few times and usually have a decent experience (with the exception of mixed drinks being way too strong most of the time). However me and a group of 7 others came in from 8-10 on October 3rd, and found they were not serving any cocktails except margaritas, and after waiting 45 minutes the one of the two who ordered margs got a completely different drink for no reason. Then, after waiting another hour, another friend asked about his drink and was informed that they had run out of the beer he ordered but the staff had not told him. Isn’t that stealing? The table was also dirty the entire time and a staff member cleaned it after dishes sat for two hours. It was busy at first so of course we understood, but two hours is not a great look.

The place was very nice. The meal with wine was pricey but it was worth it, the roast beef was excellent and wow, the selection of sauces was amazing. I randomly put random assortments of things and it tasted very good, compliments to the kitchen over me concocting some strange sandwich combo. I’m not sure if it would be a regular occurrence since the price was steep and I come to believe that Covid has bumped the prices compared to last year but that holds true to several places on franklin. Overall it was an excellent meal and enough so to justify the price, but don’t come in expecting a bargain of any kind.

Tru has the best sandwiches in Chapel Hill, in my opinion. Their options for toppings are extensive, yet even piled high, their sandwiches are made cleanly and with care. They also have a great wine menu and good beer on tap. The upstairs balcony area is also a great spot for a cozy bite or drink. Truly one of my favorite places!
