Troy’s has outstanding NY style pizza, Stromboli & stuffed mushrooms. Stromboli & stuffed mushrooms are our favorite go to items. However, if you order Stromboli or stuffed mushrooms make sure you ask if JOHN is working. He is a master of the Stromboli & mushrooms. Last time I ordered a Stromboli when John wasn’t working it was covered in corn meal that made it taste like sawdust and it was a major disappointment. Plus the fillings were meager. John is the man!! I don’t order from here unless he’s working. Their pizza is fairly consistent and about the closest to real New York pizza where I was born & raised so I’m pretty picky about my pizza!! This is a takeout place. There’s a few tables but it’s usually hit as the pizza oven in the restaurant. I don’t recommend dining in.

i went in the middle of the day on a sunday so my expectations werent altogether high. there was a group of what i could only describe as regulars playing poker and chatting it up, which was quite pleasant. The cashier was a young lad, friendly but to the point. I walked in and ordered their spaghetti and meatballs to dine in and a calzone with pepperoni and mushrooms to go. spaghetti took close to 20 minutes to come out came with garlic knots that were decent, one of which wasnt baked all the way through. i have my suspicions that the spaghetti was a “unthaw and bake” affair due to it being in a metal pie pan when it was served. I was a bit peckish so I dug in without a second thought. upon refection it could have used more sauce and the meatballs, while impressive, were dried out on the top. very filling but underwhelming as far as taste.
As I got up to leave I retrieved my calzone, which i got togo so as to have for lunch the next day. it sat in the fridge overnight and today i took it out to rebake it (325 for 15min) and cut it open. see pictures. the calzones from this place came highly recommended by other locals so i was excited to try them out. I have not had many calzones in my life but they have time and again disappointed me. I thought they should come as a wrapped up pizza; ingredients evenly distributed surrounded by crust. the crust was good, but the ingredients were stacked together and each bite was one thing at a time. not especially appetizing honestly and I do not believe i’ll be ordering these two items again. will see about editing on a following visit where i will order their signature pizza and take that for a spin, but honestly i’m not looking forward to it.
the spaghetti, side salad, and calzone (no drink) cost $37. i’ll keep supporting local businesses, but it is tough sometimes.

Best pizza around in my opinion. Used to go all the time but unfortunately moved far away. If they delivered 1,500 miles, I’d still be ordering frequently. If you live near by or are passing through, I highly recommend. Still on their email list and when I see them coming through, I instantly miss this establishment.

Really impressed with the quality of the pizza. Closest thing I’ve had in flavor and texture to authentic New York pizza in Florida. Highly recommend!

Wow! Great pizza. True Italian pizza, Oh and the large is a Huge LARGE. It is big. (the pics are a small pizza FYI) We have been looking for a great place in Port St. John’s and we have found it. Never had a bad pizza or delivery. Once they gave us a free pizza.

We came in this evening (7:30) to celebrate my daughter’s graduation. We ordered $100 worth of food and tipped the ladies a hefty $25. I understand that they close at 8pm however, they had no right treating my family and I the way they did. The younger looking girl slammed the plates on the table as she brought the food out. We were kind enough to stack our plates on the pizza tray as we finished our food in an attempt to make it easier to clean up. Once I finished putting our food in the to go containers they actually turned OFF all the lights in the dinning room. Only I was standing at the time. Very rude!!!!!

Troy’s Pizzeria- Port St. John, FL- 4 Stars

“Oh, joy,” I thought as I stared at the window on my random name generator, another Pizza joint. But hey, at least it wasn’t a franchise! The name in question was that of Troy’s Pizzeria in beautiful Port St. John…oh, who am I kidding, it’s OTB and I don’t like going OTB, alas duty calls.

I truly enjoyed Troy’s Pizzeria and recommend it over and other pizza joint in PSJ.

As I was debating which bridge to use to cross the river, I looked up and I was there (it’s not that bad of a drive after all). The tidbit of information that got my curiosity up was the fact that Troy’s touted itself as serving “New York Style” pizza. For those not in the know, NY Style pizza is made with a defining overly large hand-tossed crust that is thin except the edge, this allows for the preferred method of ingestion, the New York fold.

Upon entering Troy’s Pizzeria I was immediately taken in by how clean the place was. I can get used to this aspect of a post-COVID world as who doesn’t like a clean eating establishment? While it was nothing out of the ordinary décor wise, I found it to be a quaint little parlor aptly manned by Amanda. I asked Amanda for one slice of white pizza and one order of their stuffed shells with the proverbial garlic knots and a small side salad.

The salad Amanda soon returned with was chock full of fresh vegetables and crisp, green lettuce. Sadly, the dressing was obviously out of a bucket. The garlic knots were just that, garlic knots. They were cooked properly and tasted fine, but certainly nothing extraordinary here.

Moving on to the slice of white pizza. What I really like here is the crust. I hate overdone crust and this was obviously made to order, cooked properly and was delightfully amusing on the palate. The toppings were fresh, the sauce was tasty and it folded perfectly! Great job, Troy’s!! The stuffed shells, while not bad in any way, didn’t make the same impression on me as the slice of pie I just scarfed down did. The shells were cooked properly, the sauce was adequate and the rest is, as they say, history.

I must make a disclosure here to my loyal readers. When I am comparing Italian food I rate pizza joints against pizza joints and sit-downs vs. sit-downs. So, for future reference, please don’t ask me how a pizza place stacks up against a family-oriented sit-down Italian joint that has the obligatory pizza on the menu.

The Big Boy says, “If you’re a transplant, visitor, or local in the mood for some up the coast pizza, Troy’s Pizzeria is serving fresh slices of hot New York Style Pizza Pie!” #iamthebigboy #bigboydining

Drive past all the time, decided I would give Troy’s pizza a shot. Ordered a tomato basil Sicilian style pie. As an Italian, when it comes to food, especially Italian food I am what I like to consider an expert. Let me tell ya this pie was one of the best pie’s I’ve ever had. Now I will say the pie was cooked a little more than I prefer (it was cooked perfect, but I like mine personally a little less cooked as with Sicilian style, it hurts the top of my mouth.) but it had the perfect amount of toppings to dough ratio. It was hot & fresh; smelt amazing, looked great & tasted even better.
The price was a little high but that isn’t their fault, we live in America with an overwhelming inflation rate going on.
I did not dine in but it seems like a nice relaxing spot to grab a bite. Staff was okay as I didn’t have much interaction with them but I would say they were nice, they didn’t give me any weird looks or ask for a tip.
I have no idea what these negative reviews are talking about, this place is atleast 4.8/5 if not a 5/5 . As stated above I can’t comment on atmosphere or the staff, but food is definitely a 5/5 !
Will come here again.

This reminded me so much of a New York Pizza place. Family-owned and everybody pitching in the way used to be. Very friendly staff excellent pizza reasonable prices! Decorated. Which photos of NASA stuff this is definitely a place I would go back to it was close to our house rental and recommended by the folks in my local office. Try the Troy special you will not be disappointed! This is a definite go if you need New York style pizza thin and crispy but does not flop when folded. There was also a nice selection of hot sauces. As a bonus a few stores down in the same plaza is scoops old-fashioned ice cream we went there and we’re happy there too!
