While visiting the area, our group of 7 decided to look for a local place to eat lunch. The Trout Town Tavern popped up and was less than a mile away. We really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and the waitress was very good! Our order was out in less than 15 minutes and everything was hot and delicious. We would definitely recommend for anyone interested in good food, service and atmosphere!!

New find for us. Service was great (oir server was Sage), food was excellent (I had the meatloaf) and they are reasonably priced. Lots of great menu options we want to try. We will be back! Thank you 😉

Everything we had was fantastic! We started with the Trout Town Frickles, then my husband and I shared the two entrees. We ordered the Platter of Wings, and Fish n Chips! In my opinion, it’s the best fried cod and chicken wings in the area! This is a gem of a restaurant.

Stopped in after visiting the car show for lunch. We were seated very quickly and the atmosphere/vibe was very appealing. The coleslaw was great, I enjoyed the small amount of onion in it that gave it a great taste. Frickles were by far the best item I had from being served hot to the flavor and crispness these are a must try. My BBQ brisket & bacon melt was good. It had flavor from the brisket, but the bacon as well as the fries could have been a little more crisp rather than soft. This is a me thing not a everyone thing. We would eat here again when in the area.

Wasn’t my first choice but happy accidents happen in this world! Came in and Sage immediately sat me, wasn’t expecting any kind of special treatment and got a nice window seat to relax by. He was incredibly on point with his timing in terms of checking on when you were ready to order, and the food came quick but the quality was impeccable. I love Mac n Cheese so a slight bias will creep into this review, trust that I wouldn’t speak positively if it weren’t worth mentioning. Highly recommend getting the brisket and adding bacon with the onions, you won’t be disappointed! What can I say, cute little gem in Kalkaska.

Our dinner was delicious!! The portions were large enough for two people to share and still have leftovers

We stopped here on our way back to Grand Rapids from Mackinaw City and had the best perch dinner I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant. It was clean and quaint. We will be stopping here again on our trips north.

We have the brisket and the perch. We also had a glass of the local trout ale.
The brisket was good. And they offered four sauces for it. However, it was cut too thin. But it came with tater tots that were absolutely delicious.
The perch was good but a little more fishy than you might expect from perch. And the coleslaw that came with it was not particularly flavorful. But the french fries were crisp and delicious.
The thing is, they provided such generous portions of everything. And it is a comfortable environment, and our server was very attentive and friendly.
So I probably would have rated them 4.5 and I would go back because it was an enjoyable experience.
P.s. being from beer city Grand Rapids makes us probably too demanding in our beer, but we would not order the ale again.

Absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. The menu was excellent and had a nice variety without overwhelming. We chose the daily all you can eat cod special. The fries were so crispy and tasty, it was a shame we couldn’t eat them all. The battered cod was fried to perfection; crispy and moist. The atmosphere was country sweet with a quaint fishing theme. It was little dark but that goes with the theme and wasn’t a bother. For a small town restaurant, I was taken aback by how beautiful and clean the bathrooms were. The staff were prompt, very kind, and clearly enjoyed working with each other. It was a pleasure to hear the playful banter and friendly conversation among coworkers. Food came out quickly and we loved the drinks served with a frosted glass and crispy pretzel. Cost was reasonable for an adult beverage and an all you can eat cod dinner for two. Worth every penny. Definitely try the Cheesy Ale soup. It will make you smile.
