Really legit and authentic.
Both the pineapple fried rice and hainan rice were excellent, good value and great taste.
Green beans were crispy and flavored well.
Chicken skewers were good, satay sauce same as I remember from old location.
Definitely worth coming back.

The laksa is not laksa. Claims to be spicy coconut broth… taste like spicy fish broth…. no coconut flavor. Bean sprouts are cheap. But got like 10 of them. 3 little shrimp. 1 end of egg. No yellow in it( for that price i expected a whole egg) brother barely came half way up the bowl after I put noodles in…. the roti even though supposed to come sliced, was thrown in box so carelessly it was all falling apart. And super hard and crunchy. Probably over cooked… one of the worst laksa I have had in alberta or bc

Fabulous flavor and quality food. It reminded me of when we went to Thailand… especially the pineapple rice .
The meat was tender and seasoned perfectly. The noodles my kid loved. And the beans… wow. I am not a fan of green beans and I took down a full plate.
Would definitely be back.

If you love Malaysian Thai Indonesian food, this is the restaurant you must visit. Their food are so tasty and authentic, as if you are enjoying your meal in Asia. They have so much choices that you just dunno which one you should order because you just wanna try each one of them. Highly recommend Nasi Goreng, Laksa, Roti Canai, Satays, they could adjust the spicyness for you if you cannot handle spicy meal. Also Hainanese chicken is a very popular dish and they are limited each day. I will for sure order it on my next visit. Love the interior decorations and staff are all so friendly. If you prefer take away, order through their app would get an extra discount. Definitely a good place when you are craving some Asian food. Highly recommended.

We experienced an overall very pleasant dinner at Tropika in Chappelle. We were pleasantly surprised by the very delicious and well presented food at our table. Actually had a beautifully decorated interior setting besides the very tasty and well presented cuisine. Would highly recommend anyone to visit this spot. Price point was actually reasonable as well, which is hard to find these days! The waitress was quiet but very helpful and got our order perfectly. Our shrimp/veg/coconut sauce dish was fantastic and our guests had the lemon chicken which was so good and beautifully presented as well. Support local right here in Chappelle! You won’t regret it!! (Also a very neat and clean atmosphere, besides being lovely inside.)

Love this location. Ordered take-out for the family here multiple times at this point. The food is always fresh, flavourful, and well portioned for the price. Can easily feed a family of 4 for $50-$60 or less. The staff are always very friendly and appreciative for even just take-out orders. A different and very appreciated option for the neighbourhood.

We ordered takeout. The food was not meeting the standard at all. This used to be my favourite place when I visit Edmonton, but this was a huge disappointment. Food was either dry or the sauce is not the taste it should be.
The Tropika fried rice was basically rice, mixed peas and pineapples being mixed together and not “stir fried”. No taste to it at all.
The Tom Yum soup doesn’t even taste any bit of the sournesses it should have. It’s just salty. I had better “instant” Tom Yum than this.
The satay skewer was the most disappointing. This will be the last time for us.

I had a great experience dining in the first time — the food was tasty and fresh. However, I was really disappointed when I ordered takeout the second time. The hot and sour soup was extremely small in portion, very lacking in ingredients, and the flavour was much worse compared to before. It cost $15, which is far too expensive for what I got (see photo).
That said, the Hainanese chicken is still well done — tender and flavourful. But overall, I’m quite disappointed with this place and I’m not sure if I would return.

We were excited to try this place having heard good things from the other location but overall we were pretty disappointed in the food.
We tried the pork with peppercorn which was absolutely flavourless. We also didn’t like the texture and for $21 definitely thought it wasn’t worth it. We had also ordered the Thai mix vegetables which was an ok size but for that dish we could also only taste soy sauce and there was no spice whatsoever.
None of the dishes included rice so we took the coconut rice for $4 which was fine. The service however was excellent the staff were super friendly and when refilling our water she actually remembered no ice and would take extra care to make sure no ice fell in the glass!
We will go back simply based on the service and because we do want to try other dishes to give them another chance so hopefully those will be better.

We use to come to this location when it was caffeinds so walking in gave us hints of our old favorite coffee shop. They kept the long community table and fireplace. Looks like the Italian espresso machine was left behind so they still have that. There are subtle changes such d the lighting. Floating fairy lights gives the space an intimate feel. Good for date night. Just missing candles. It was weird being back here. Kinda familiar but different. Hard to explain. Now to the food!
We had the PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE which was delicious. There were pieces of ham and chicken with egg and vegetables all tossed in. The tumeric gave it a nice balance with the sweetness of the pineapple.
CRISPY SWEET & SOUR PORK was also tasty except that they need to lighten up on the vinegar and add more sweetness. My tongue was raw after eating this. Just ask for more sweetness. Also the onions in this dish were undercooked. Another 30 seconds in the wok would be in order.
VIETNAMESE SPRING ROLLS were crispy and delish. Can’t go wrong with these tasty starters.
The service was great! No complaints there. The friendly servers kept our waters topped off and maintained eye contact when needed. We did not feel ignored. All in all a good experience especially for a soft open. They are not fully open yet with a partial menu. No advertising yet. The only way we knew they were open was because of the flashing open sign. We would recommend.
Just a note: the prices here are a bit steep. For all three dishes pictured…our bill came out to 58 bucks. That’s PF CHANGS amounts. Good food but overpriced.
