This was my first time trying Jamaican food and OMG it was amazing. Once I started I couldn’t put my fork down. I had the Rasta Pasta w/ shrimps and my husband had the oxtails. I can see why the reviews here are exceptional. Will eat here again. I’m not from the area but if you are passing through Covington VA please stop.

An absolute gem in the area. Never would have thought to find fantastic Jamaican food in the middle of rural Virginia, but boy did we! As far as I’m concerned, this is the best restaurant in the entire area, despite not even having an interior dining area. Their portion sizes are more than generous, their prices are phenomenal, and the food was incredible. The only dish we didn’t love was the rice and beans, because they were a little bland, but even the cabbage side was fantastic. We had some of the best ribs I’ve ever had across the country from here, and their jerk chicken tacos were so huge and loaded, my wife and I couldn’t even finish a single order together, and we are no slouches when it comes to caloric intake…

What a little treasure to have in Covington. We were heading home from the Homestead and spotted this place and its great reviews and decided to give it a try. Very clean inside and Fantastic! We were very impressed. It does take a little while to get the food as they are a small kitchen, so just keep that in mind or order ahead!

There truly is no better place in Covington to go for food. If you’ve never tried Jamaican food or just don’t feel interested, ‘expand ya’ pallet’ anyway and trust the GOOD reviews you see on here. This place truly brought a spark to our little town that is overpopulated with Italian restaurants. This is literally the only place that I want to eat if I eat out.

The food is beyond good.. it is perfect. Jerk chicken and curry with cabbage has me in a clutch. Perfectly tender and seasoned beyond perfection. That Rasta pasta… hates to see me coming! lol
Family owned restaurant also just gives it that home-cooked touch. I am beyond proud of this family. It’s worth the wait!!
To anyone that is new to the area, give this place a shot. (Especially on a Sunday!) The Sunday buffet is great because you can get a little bit of everything.

Tropical Spice is an ultimate destination for Jamaican food. The seasonings are perfect, the meat is tender to perfection, the prices are great! They do specials, and special menu items on days. Beef stew is a sell out item, the steak and lobster are spectacular.Their DoorDash rating is superb. Be reasonable as they are still a small family business. The wait times are well worth it and they guarantee quality fresh and hot food! Picture is of the bone in curry meal.
