As a business owner, I don’t sugarcoat reviews. I travel extensively and review all kinds of restaurants, always calling out both the good and the bad when it’s deserved. This Tropical Smoothie Café exceeded my expectations.
The location was very clean, the food was fresh and well prepared, and everything tasted exactly the way it should. The staff was friendly, professional, and efficient, which tells me this place is well managed. That matters.
Too many places cut corners—this one doesn’t. From cleanliness to customer service to food quality, they clearly take pride in what they do. This was a solid experience all around, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Joseph and Chuy did a phenomenal job with my smoothie! I asked for something resembling a piña colada, not knowing the
menu well and I was not disappointed!! The guys were very polite and It was priced very fairly. I would absolutely recommend coming here for anyone looking for a healthy fix! Good work, Tropical team!
Edit: After doing some research into this company, and this specific location, i am devastated to share that they mistreat their employees, their sanitation practices are atrocious, and they have had health code violations. many employees are not paid their tips, they are retaliated against, and they are not paid for mandatory training which is against illinois law. additionally, there has been mold growing on the ingredients used to make the smoothies, and they just skim the top off or put fresh ingredients over top of the old ones. yuck. i have also noticed a severe allergen risk regarding cross contamination. scary stuff!! hard to believe these guys still have their heads above the water…

The food and smoothies are awesome but employees dont know how to read. Its going on for the third time i place an online order and they literally place the sticker with special instructions to not add something to me flatbread and I still end up with tomatoes in my food. Like what if people are allergic there is a reason you request something to not be on the sandwich or flat bread please read when making a flat bread 101 basics in taking orders.

The younger girls were very nice however this review is aimed at the manager/owner of this establishment, I am not blaming them at all because I know how it is to be working for a franchise at minimum wage.
-We ordered a chicken wrap and a salad, the salad no chicken sub plant based protein. They were unaware of a plant based protein option being available even though it says it on the menu, but I dismissed that because it could’ve been an old sign that the owner didn’t want to replace. The lettuce in both the wrap and salad was soggy/welted/half frozen which made us doubt the quality of produce that was in our smoothies. Might have been an off day but for $20 the only thing we ate was the chips

This locations is worst I have been. One acai bown was leaky not frozen, another time had to wait 10 minutes so total 20 minutes after I placed my order online way too long! Yesterday fruits were not fresh really dissapointment why would you even put something you wont eat yourself? Anyway today was last drop. I came no activity going on and lady say they did not get my order. I went to get my phone and said order were placed more than 10 minutes ago. When she looks at one of 3 stickers and yes she found my name and start making my acai bowl. What? Are you serious?
Will not go ever to this location neither I suggest anyone unless you have time , patients and get something may taste not good or I mean fresh. Hope this gets all the way to the owner and he fixes problem.
