It was my 1st time here, and I must say it was amazing. I had no clue what I wanted to try and ended up with a Paradise Point and a Caribbean Jerk Chicken, and my brother got a Mocha Madness. It was amazing. Thank you to the staff that was on this morning. You did great. We will be back to try something new next time.

I am absolutely appalled by the service and quality at the Tropical Smoothie Café in South Portland, Maine. A few years ago, I ordered a hummus and veggie wrap from this location, which was supposed to be vegetarian, but to my shock and disgust, it came with chicken in it. I have strict dietary restrictions due to health issues, so this was a serious problem for me.

After all these years, I thought I would give them another chance, thinking maybe things had improved. But to my utter disbelief, the same exact thing happened AGAIN today. I ordered what was clearly marked as a vegetarian option, and once again, it came with chicken. To make matters worse, the wrap was missing several key ingredients it was supposed to include, like black beans, cheese, and rice. This isn’t just a simple mistake—this is a clear lack of care and attention to what goes on in that kitchen.

Not only is this incredibly irresponsible, but it also makes me seriously question the cleanliness and overall hygiene of their kitchen. If they can’t even manage to keep a vegetarian dish free from meat, let alone include the right ingredients, what else are they messing up behind the scenes? The potential for cross-contamination is outrageous, and it’s absolutely unacceptable.

Tropical Smoothie Café, you have lost my trust for good. I will never be returning to this location, and I strongly urge anyone with dietary restrictions—or anyone who values their health—to avoid this place at all costs

Came here on a Thursday night around 6:45. The crew looked to be light considering this is a drive-thru location and there were people in the drive and in-store. The crew was doing an excellent job though. Our food came out hot and came out quickly. It met the expectation, and the smoothies were great. I had mods on my wrap and my smoothie. Both came as ordered. A few tables needed to be wiped down, but the lobby was otherwise clean. Appreciate the staff for holding it down at a time and place where it can probably be difficult to do so.

Loaded with added sugar.
I wanted a healthy fruit smoothie. I ordered one with only fruit listed as ingredients. It tastes sweeter than kool-aid.
Milkshakes have less sugar.
Only half-blended. Big ice chunks.

The food is usually good. We like the chicken pesto flatbread, three cheese chicken quesadilla, Santa Fe chicken quesadilla, pomegranate plunge, sunrise sunset, mocha madness, & jetty punch. The smoothies only come in one size for regular smoothies then kids smoothies are smaller (about half the size) but they only make certain flavors in kids. I’m not sure how many oz they are but the regular adult size is the equivalent to a filling meal for me (an average sized woman). The quesadillas also come with a surprisingly flavorful salsa. I love it. Sometimes the chicken is a little chewy or the food is a little cold but overall it’s fine. We like that it has plenty of options that isn’t burger & fries.

Echoing some other reviews, the service here is terrible. When you walk in no one will greet you and you will probably wait at the counter for about five minutes until someone acknowledges your existence. No one really seems to enjoy working there and I think they just hope if they are dry/cold and/or ignore you, you will just leave, which we have seen people to do. We know the tricks though, lol. You also have to tell them you want chips. It’s included with most meals but they won’t tell you that. So just so everyone knows. Get those chips you are entitled to! They also usually take awhile to prepare (which I guess is good because you know it isn’t premade? Pros & cons) but we never go in the drive thru. We usually order then go to our car or walk to one of the shops nearby because they take awhile. The inside of the shop is fine. Some places to sit. Nothing fancy. They do have an app though that I think you can order through and possibly earn points but not sure. You do get a free smoothie after one purchase with the app though!

We were in Westbrook for the Paper City Classic Basketball Tournament that our 10yr old is participating in this weekend and we had some time to kill between games. We decided to go see a movie; Dune 2, which was Amazing but the theater didn’t serve Any real food! It was an almost 3hr movie so we didn’t have time to sit down at a restaurant and also didn’t want our son to have anything heavy sitting in his stomach before he had to play his next game. I remembered that there was a Tropical Smoothie Cafe nearby and I’ve been Dying to try their new bowls. I opened up my handy dandy TSC app (Their Rewards Program is Awesome btw) and ordered a Curbside Pickup Order so that we could quickly pick up our healthy meals and get to our son’s next game in time. We ordered the Acai Bowl and Green Dream Yogurt Bowls for my Husband and I. We ordered a Blueberry Bliss Smoothie with a Three Cheese Chicken “Dilla” (Quesadilla) for our son.
Upon arrival I decided to run in as it was raining and I didn’t find it very fair to make someone have to run our food out and get wet. I walked in and my son’s smoothie was already prepared and waiting for us on the counter. When I told the employee who was working the counter; Abby, my name she informed me that there was an issue with our order and that they didn’t have the ingredients in stock to make either of the bowls we had ordered. She apologized and said “I don’t know why the app even allowed you to order out of stock items”. I was Super disappointed seeing that we literally went there to try the new bowls but Abby ensured me that she would do whatever she could to make sure we left happy! She told me that they had the ingredients to make the Chia Oatmeal Pudding Bowl which although didn’t sound very appealing to me at the time, ended up being Absolutely Delicious!! She also offered us both a Smoothie of our choice to make up for it! I got my regular, the Avocolada and ordered the Peanut Paradise which I added blueberries to for my Husband. Which we both enjoyed.

Now, although this location is starred as my “Favorite” on their app, I had never actually been inside this TSC and Wow is it Big in comparison to the others I’ve visited.

In conclusion, although initially disappointed by the inability to get what we went their for, we all ended up being very happy with our visit thanks to Abby’s kindness and excellent customer service skills. I would absolutely recommend this location and found it to be spacious and cleanly.

Customer service was aweful. Every time I asked for something I was met with a gruff ” we’re out.” She never said hello or please or thank you. They were out of the promotional starfuit smoothie and didn’t bother to offer any suggestions. I explained I hadn’t been there before so I would need a moment and did come back they were out of the ingredients for two of the smoothies.. after finally coming to an apparent one size fits all $8 compromise, I my smoothie was leaking everywhere to the point the guy set it down and walked off… I had to clean that big mess (containing blueberries) then I noticed the straw was way too short and told .. we’re out… smoothie from what I did get to drink of it was alright

Brought to the attention of the young lady that works there that there was no soap in the men’s restaurant.
She respond back with yeah, I know someone stole it. And then giggles, so if you know, someone stole the soap out of the menstruum.Why are you not putting soap in the men’s room?Considering there was a young man working.I would avoid that place like the plague.They know There is no soap in the men’s room which means they’re not properly washing their hands when they touch your food people avoid this place

I went in twice today, ordered a smoothie the first time before going into work. The worker just left my smoothie on the counter, didn’t call out a name or the smoothie, just set it there and walked away. There were multiple people in the lobby, if I hadn’t ordered it in two cups I wouldn’t have known it was mine and I still checked to make sure it was what I ordered. Second time I came in they forgot my side and didn’t put my name on the bag, it was just a blank bag and I was hesitant to grab it, but there were only two cars in the drive through and my order in the lobby so I assumed it was mine .. really bad service lately. I can understand if it’s busy or understaffed, but they were staffed up and only two cars in the drive through and me as an online order. Other than that the lobby was empty and it seemed dead. Disappointed.
