Great customer service plus they give you large portions. So be careful. A small is a medium and a medium is a large, and a large is XXL. I highly recommend the curry chicken. Flavorful beyond belief!

Tropical Jerk never disappoints! I’ve been here multiple times, and every time, the food is on point. The jerk chicken has the perfect balance of spice and smokiness, and the oxtail is always tender and flavorful. You can tell they put love into their cooking. The portions are solid, and the plantains are a must-have. The staff is cool and welcoming, making the experience even better. If you’re craving real Jamaican food, this is the spot!

Many stores around; busy street
– shapely young woman was cordial and delivered service with pleasantries
– ambiance – fair; they were closing so I didn’t get the full experience
– food – delicious; stew chicken and rice and peas; natural drinks are good

From the moment I walked into Tropical Jerk, I loved the atmosphere—hearing gospel music right away spoke directly to my heart. Navi, the worker who helped me, was knowledgeable, pleasant, and suggested I try the soursop with dragonfruit, which was such a great choice.
I ordered the medium oxtails with rice and peas and cabbage, and everything was absolutely amazing—flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. This place truly feels blessed, and I pray they continue to allow God’s presence to fill it.
I will definitely be returning!

I like their jerk pork however I really dont like when they put they put the sweet sauce because they put too much, so I always ask for sause but somehow it seem like a problem when you ask, I also bought some jerk chicken which is very dry the young lady only put two small sweet sauce and two small hot sauce, I looked in the bag and I asked for two more and it was a problem.. I’ll never step my foot back in there to buy anything I think she was very rude.

Needs consistency. Some days, it tastes like jerk, other days it don’t taste like jerk at all. Rice was cold, and the chicken was not marinated in seasoning today. Again, they have no scotch bonnet or hot sauce. The environment is clean, inviting beautiful dining places. Some of these photos were taken on different days. On the day, most of the pictures, the food was on point thou it missed the hot sauce. There is a need for consistency in the taste of the food.

So sad that in an area with high Jamaican community, this is what they have to offer??? The rice was not cooked, dry. Quality/ price don’t match!! I m a bad cook and can do better!!! Too salty, maybe msg? Also, everyone is on carribean time, not nyc lifestyle! Took 20 min to order with a line of 4 ppl… never again!

I am very disappointed with the service I received today at Tropical Jerk in Hempstead. I’ve been a loyal customer for many years, but after today’s experience, I don’t think I’ll be returning.
I visited the restaurant on October 28th around 3:30 PM and found three employees behind the counter — two males and one female. I waited about four minutes to be served while the two male workers were talking, and the female worker was eating. Only one of the males was actually assisting a customer.
When the female worker finally decided to assist me, she wiped her mouth with her hand and came over to ask for my order. As I began explaining what I wanted (rice, small jerk chicken, and veggies), I noticed she still hadn’t washed her hands. I stopped mid-order and told her that she had just been eating and wiped her mouth without washing up. Her response was, “Do you want me to serve you or not?” — which I found extremely unprofessional, disrespectful, and dismissive.
I told her no, I did not want her to serve me. She then went on to serve the customer behind me still without washing her hands. That was unacceptable and unsanitary.
After years of supporting this restaurant, I was shocked by this level of service and hygiene. I truly hope the owners read this and take immediate action, because I’ve never witnessed anything like that before. Sadly, October 28th, 3:30 PM will be the last time I visit Tropical Jerk in Hempstead.
