The place is clean and staff is very friendly. The food is presented well. I should have asked to sample the food before ordering. I ordered, lechon kawali and 2 combo meals with pancit. beef caldereta, chicken teriyaki, sisig, and chayote. Also ordered turon. The pancit is too soft, strong peppery taste and overcooked. The pancit spoiled the taste of the other dishes. I had to get back in line to order white rice hoping the pancit was the problem. With the white rice it did not matter. The lechon kawali is dry and overcooked. All the other dishes are not good at all. Fortunately the turons were perfectly cooked; crisp, moist, not oily and not too sweet. For this visit the and the food selected I am giving this place 2-3 stars.

I’m glad I finally stopped in here. I will say that the portions are enormous and the prices are very budget friendly so you get a lot of bang for your comfort food buck here. My dad is Filiipino so I developed a taste for this country’s incredible cuisine at an early age. Some dishes I won’t eat simply because of the ingredients but most Filipino dishes are fair game for me. I got a combo meal for under $9 (includes a drink!) and they are so generous with the sides that they put them in separate containers as opposed to squeezing them into the compartments of the the takeout styrofoam containers! I had lunch for two days for the price of one! I ordered pancit (noodles), a veggie side made with squash and long beans in coconut milk which I believe is called Ginataang Kalabasa, and pork belly. The pork was very flavorful and a real treat! I would love it if the dishes here were labeled so that it would be easier to make selections. The set up is no-nonsense cafeteria style and as I mentioned, they are very generous with portions. Filipinos are never stingy with portions! I remember growing up going to family parties where the supply of food was limitless. Having had the opportunity to travel abroad to the Philippines years ago, I was met with the same hospitality! I’d like to go back to Tropical Hut and try more dishes. The Philippines is a country comprised of a vast number of islands and regions, and the food is a distinct reflection of this variety. The food is also a unique product of the country’s significant Chinese and Spanish histories. There is also a Malay-Indonesian history, among other ethno-linguistic groups. Latin and Asian fusion is ever present in Filipino food. This restaurant caters also! Maybe that’s where all the lumpia (Filipino version of egg roll) went because they didn’t have any! Darn! Well, until next time!

I’ve been wanting to try the Tropical Hut for months. Finally stopped in today. They have a nice variety of dishes to choose from. I had a beef dish with rice and vegetables that was delicious. My friend had a chicken dish that she enjoyed. We also ordered 4 chicken empanadas to take home. Total bill was about $32.00. When leaving I asked the owner for a bag for leftovers. The owner said the bag was 50 cents. I think after spending $32.00 he could have given me a bag for free. I told him to keep the bag. Such a poor business practice ,for this reason I will not go back or recommend them.

I love the pork skewers so much. Reminds me of my childhood in Florida with my Filipino relatives. The flan is my fav indulgence. All the chicken dishes are just as I grew up with, true Filipino comfort food. I am so happy I was able to bring my mom here before she passed and share with her the food she shared with me growing up as half Filipino.

Overall really good food. Have ordered catering trays a couple times and very little hasn’t been enjoyed by kids and adults. I just wish their online menu had descriptions of the multitude of dishes to make deciding easier. Googling every dish I’m unfamiliar with takes time and is inconvenient.
