So – on to the good news. Without a doubt the best fried clam strips I’ve ever had. And, I’ve eaten my fair share of them strips. These were tender, sweet and perfectly breaded. Somehow amazingly crispy while being incredibly light. Really really good. We also got a lobster roll and I do have some comments there. Tons of lobster, no mayo. None of those stupid vegetables. Celery? Nope. Onion? Nah. Just lobster, butter and a waft of chive just to add some color I guess. But the roll was ginormous. And untoasted. Who does that? Butter that baby up and get some crisp and it would be out of the ballpark. It was already a beautiful huge brioche roll with more than enough butter already. Anyway – lobster great, bread just too girthy and not toasted enough.
Peel and eat shrimp excellent. Definitely get the spicy – their Cajun seasoning is awesome and your fingers will retain that smell for weeks. In a good way.
Craft beer menu was full of local and regional selections. Quite impressive.
Definitely will be putting aside a paycheck (or two) and will be back.
Oysters are good but a little pricey. Peel and eat shrimp was excellent as well. Those come plain or spicy. Fried clams were mainly breading, not much meat to it but that is my only real compliant.
The atmosphere is different for sure. You go up and order, get a number and they bring your food out to you table. It can be challenging to find a spot because the tables are laid out family style.
Don’t let that deter you. The food and drinks are great!
The clams/oysters are fresh. Their mussels are fresh and excellent as well. (Red sauce is our favorite) pizzas are decent and the shrimp tacos are pretty good too
The staff is very nice and hard working.
This has become our staple place for happy hour l.
Highly recommended
It’s a cool setup as they sell wine and then wine and beer in a fridge area. The service and the attitude of the servers were a little rude. Usually no response when you ask for something and just turns around to get what were asking for.
The tables had paper towels and you can get cups of iced water or water with lemons up by the front which was nice. There is salt and pepper next to it as well at hot sauce. The cilantro hot sauce and the Witches Brew were both really good on the oysters and clams.
We ordered 8 oysters, 2 clams and a Lobster avocado salad. The oysters were good but when they came out, the server did not tell us which oysters were which and there were no descriptions for that or the flight that they gave us. Also not all the oysters were fully separated from the shell. Oysters came with lemon, horseradish, cocktail sauce and vinager.
The Lobster avocado salad was a bit of a disappointment. It had watercress, Lobster and avocado. They did give a good amount of Lobster chunks but the dressing [again no description anywhere] seemed to be made up of ginger, soy, sesame oil and sugar. It was way too sweet and
I ordered a flight of 4
OVB Orange Vanilla Milkshake IPA – Steong orange notes and you definitely get that Milkshake coming through. Probably the most flavorful put of the 4 beers. This is my #2 pick
Jus Pils German Pilsner – I was not a fan of this beer at all. I generally really enjoy pilsners and I’m not sure what it is about this one that I didn’t enjoy but the after taste was not great.
Raging Bull Amber Ale – Very easy to drink amber Ale and a really good ending amber notes at the end. This is my #1 pick.
Pum King Pumpkin Beer – really well incorporated pumpkin flavor and pretty good. This is probably my #3 pick.
Really kind of disappointed in the service and the execution of the restaurant overall. Things are not well explained and there are no descriptions for the beers or other items. Cool idea, just not well executed. Our bill for us 2 came out to about ~$60.
