Nice little extras included at this restaurant with unusual, but warm decor. The vegetable thali was well worth the £17.50. My friend enjoyed the paneer dish with a paratha. Very chilled staff. Would certainly return.

What a positive surprise: at first you feel the menu is limited in choices – most Indian restaurants have several pages/columns of dishes – but you’re in for a treat: the food is excellent, the service and attention is 5 stars, we were served “amuse bouche” at various stages of the meal and in the end the chef asked for our feedback.
Myself, I will return to revisit the Kerala Fish Curry and the Lollipop Chicken as The Tribe serves more than excellent Indian food, it serves soul nourishing food

I had such a wonderful experience dining here! From the moment I walked in, the staff were warm, attentive, and made me feel genuinely welcome. The service was seamless, friendly without being intrusive and every detail was taken care of with such thoughtfulness. Highly recommended

We stayed at the Mad Hatter , just round the corner. This little gem is basically amazing. Luckily we booked for 7, so a pick of the tables. The menu is not too extensive and if your looking for an Indian menu it’s not the same, but a very pleasant surprise awaits. The staff were very helpful in describing the food on the menu. What they didn’t say was the little taster tipples that they gave us between courses. When the food did arrive it was well presented and tastefully superb. The restaurant by this time was full. Overall a fantastic experience and the staff rocked up with a little birthday treat for the wife, very unexpected. If you want quality and an amazing experience, this is the place to be!!

First time we visited yesterday for a birthday meal. The food was exceptional, especially the chicken lollipops, lamb and butter chicken. In fact everything we ordered was top notch. The staff were lovely and friendly and the chef Rohin came out to talk to everyone about their meals and for any comments. The chocolate brownie and candle for my son’s birthday was a nice little surprise! The decor was quirky and stylish with a lovely smell of incense. Fabulous evening all round and highly recommended.

Hello! I was in freezing Oxford today — it said 1°C but felt like –4°. I slipped into Tribe just to warm up, and I’m so glad I did. They’d just launched their new coffee machine, and the latte I tried felt like pure comfort. They even gave me a little launch-day offer. That warmth and kindness honestly made my whole day.

Eating at Tribe was a refreshing surprise. A lot of Indian restaurants in Oxford taste like they’ve gone through a “British filter” — mild, polite, and watered down for safety. Tribe said forget that. From the first bite, the curry came alive with authentic spice and depth, the kind of bold flavor that doesn’t whisper, it shouts. Easily the most genuine Indian food experience I’ve had in Oxford — finally, a place that serves it the way it’s meant to be.

Delicious food, great vibes, and excellent service! We started with the vegetarian starters, then had chole and paneer for our mains with rice and parotta—everything was absolutely delicious. I even loved the coriander sauce, even though I’m usually one of those people for whom it tastes like soap! The atmosphere was warm and unique, and the staff were incredibly polite and welcoming. Highly recommended.

AND – I have seen a ‘negative’ review from someone that had to wait 1,5 hours. It seems this person was in the wrong place – you need to go to a fast food place, not a restaurant if you don’t want waiting for a delicious food!
