What a fun small town restaurant. We went last week and had lunch. Yum! The food was great. I love the feel of a small town and the comradery that you see when you visit. If you want some good Mexican food give them a try! Don’t forget to bring cash, as I had to run to the bank and get money, they don’t take cards!

Been going here since I was 3 years old, this place alone makes me miss living in douglass. I live out in derby now and still have to go back there at least once every couple months. Great food, great service, very friendly staff. My only complaint is the check/cash only rule. I don’t really mind but most people don’t carry around checks anymore.

Friday night the special was chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes sounds good don’t it? Service was fast but when we got our chicken and noodles it was just noodles my friend and I had no chicken on our plate, AT ALL, NONE!!! When we told the waitress she acted as if we was lying and said that she put the chicken in the noodles herself the night before thanking she might come look at our plates and maybe go back and get us another plate full so we would have some chicken she walked away it’s been years since I’ve been in this restaurant and at my age if I wait as long as I have this time I won’t ever be back by the way it was 27 bucks no discount and we left two plates of noodles I made a sandwich when I got home

I went here because of the good reviews. Terribly misleading.
I walk in and the wait staff and kitchen are leaning over a phone watching a video. They look up at me and then back down at the phone. Nobody said hello, nobody said they would be right with me. Zero hospitality. I sit down and a solid 10 minutes pass. As I’m about to walk out a waitress brings a menu. Puts it on the table and says they are not serving breakfast and the chicken noodles is today’s special. Walks away.
Meal comes with a salad. Shredded taco lettuce with ranch so thin it looks like milk.
Chicken fried steak was small and tough and the gravy looks as watered down as the ranch. Gravy shouldn’t slosh when you put a plate down.
Place is pretty gross.
But the pie was good.
I hate writing bad reviews but I honestly thing all the good reviews were written by friends and family.

Fantastic cafe. They serve traditional lunch counter fare for lunch and an amazing take on Mexican for dinner. I love their fried tacos. The seasoned beef is the best on the Monterey. If you’re traveling on 77 highway, you have to stop in. Or load the family up in the car and head on down. Just remember to save me a slice of pie.
