We were there for Thanksgiving 2025 and it was delicious! They had a 3-course pre fixe menu with a variety of options including quite a few gluten free options for those who are gluten sensitive. The hostess was friendly and professional. The restaurant was decorated for the holidays and felt inviting. We were seated in a booth in the bar area. It was quiet and intimate. Our server Tiffany met our every need. All their runners had our food out quickly but with enough time to enjoy each course. We didn’t feel rushed. From beginning to end, our experience was incredible. My parents said it was the best meal they’ve had in a long time. Thank you, Tria! Your team and service was top-notch!
*We waited a few minutes only because we arrived earlier than our reservation time.

The atmosphere and service were great! It’s a beautiful restaurant with excellent service. I ordered the beef bourguignon. The meat was cooked perfectly and very tender, though it tasted a bit too plain for me, and I expected more flavor. The mashed potatoes were excellent though.

Returning to Tria is quite an adventure. The people who work there are friendly and professional. The dishes are delicious and very well prepared, whether in the French or American style. They have a great selection of wines, although I still think they should offer more international wines and cocktails. I want to emphasize Jillian’s kindness and smile. Besides what I mentioned six months ago, I don’t have much more to say except that I highly recommend this quiet and pleasant place with excellent dishes like the Steak Diane and the appetizers, each one better than the last.
Until next time!

TRIA
After a few years, I returned to TRIA.
I expected, as always, that changes had occurred, as has happened with many things lately, and not for the better. In this case, I not only welcomed the classic style of this restaurant, but as a chef and connoisseur of restaurants throughout my travels, I applaud the culinary style that maintains that French profile with our American touch. The service was very professional and dedicated. The only thing I would say is that they should be trained a little more. The manager was very knowledgeable about her duties and gave every possible attention. The dishes were delicious. The Beef Bourguignon was not only very appetizing, but the presentation seemed very different from the common denominator of many restaurants.
Unfortunately, we were unable to try the flatbread since it is only served at the bar. I find it ridiculous that, despite having the same kitchen, they can’t serve it in the main dining room.
The only thing I’d like to recommend, as a winemaker, is that TRIA should have a slightly broader list of international wines, not just from California.
Another thing is that I ordered a Pedro Ximenex and they served it to me at room temperature. That shouldn’t have been the case.
Another thing is that they have a “sangria” with white wine. That’s more of a Kir. Spanish sangria is made with red wine. That’s why it’s called sangria; it’s actually means blood, which is red.
See you next time.

Yeah, no. Do not bother with this restaurant. The food was off base, completely. Flavorless and when there was flavor, the wrong thing overpowered the dish. 4 of us ate dinner here and it took over an hour to get our meals. When the food finally came, one dish was spicy and wasnt described as such, one steak was flavorless, and the fall menu risotto was so over goat cheesed and over cooked it was a glob of goat flavored slop. It took so long to come out, I immediately packed it and our dessert to go. The waitstaff was discombobulated, at best.
Overall, terrible. Will never be back.

The first time I reviewed, the service was impeccable, the atmosphere is authentic, and the food is good, but not great. I am a French food fanatic. Tría has always been the only true French restaurant in the northern suburbs of St. Paul. They have a terrific atmosphere. UPDATE- we tried their new happy hour in the bar. Definitely not the level of service we had the last time. We were pretty much ignored by the bar tender. Never asked if we wanted more drinks or food. We ordered the Brussels Sprouts and the Leek Spinach and Artichoke dip for appetizers but decided not to order dinner. Both apps were “ok” As you can see by the picture 5 slices of toast for 3/4 pound of dip. Not great. Neither were hot and the dip had way too much breadcrumbs and the Brussels Sprouts were too sweet. We will give it another shot to see if it was just our server or not, but for now, I cannot recommend the bar.

Very nice place to have dinner. Classic ‘Supper Club’ atmosphere; delicious food, prompt and polite service. Celebrated my wife’s birthday here and we were so pleased with the free champagne and dessert they provided! Cant recommend Tria highly enough. We will be back shortly. 🙂

Updates:
Tria Restaurant was kind enough to invite us back to their Mother’s Day lunch, on them. We accepted the invitation.

They had the exact same menu as the Easter Brunch when we were there last; but instead of ordering and waiting, we were treated the buffet instead.

ZERO wait time.

I’d like to point out that the chicken breasts and the braised beef were both EXTREMELY tender. The potatoes and roasted green beans were also as good as I remembered.
But I think the real stars of the lunch today were the desserts.

They were fantastic.

I didn’t take many pictures mostly because I had no patience and just wanted to eat them…I don’t even remember what they’re called but there was a good variety to choose from. They were a good ending to our meal.

Unlike the last dining experience, I think the restaurant really did take people’s reviews to heart and it showed. The atmosphere was much more relaxed and our server lady was very tentative and she didn’t seem overwhelmed at all. Other families were in and out while we were there and not all seats in the room were occupied. This helped make the experience better because I didn’t feel like I need to shove the food down my throat for the next customer to come in.

A good restaurant owner admits his mistakes, and a great restaurant owner fixes them. The food on Mother’s Day was great. I understand people’s taste can be subjective; but even if you don’t agree with my view on the taste of their food, I think we can still all agree that Tria really does care, and they fix their mistakes.

That in itself is enough, and I will definitely return again next time.

Thanks again for the wonderful lunch.

To sum up the experience today, Tria left quite a bit to be desired.

We found out about Tria from an online article from Mpls StPaul Magazine, listing restaurants available on Easter. The magazine described the Easter service as an “Elegant feast,” but the only elegant element was the restaurant’s decor and the surrounding countryside. Feast, on the other hand, cannot be further from the truth.

Two options were offered from Tria for the holiday dining experience: buffet or the prix fixe menu (three course meal). My wife and I didn’t feel our capacities for food warranted the buffet so we decided to reserve the prix fixe menu seating.

We both picked baked ham for the entree but selected different appetizers and desserts. Wife had the oyster and ice cream and I had the duck crisp and crepe. I enjoyed the duck crisp, mostly because I was hungry (we waited 25 minutes to be seated and another 30 minutes for the first appetizer to arrive). I thought the crepe was fine, although the sauce tasted like something I could get from a grocery store).

I have no complaints on the actual quality of the entree: baked ham, potatoes, green beans and roasted carrots. In fact, each was delicious in its own way and I thought it appropriate for the occasion. Two things can be true at once however: despite the good taste, the portion was not exactly generous. We ordered one Bellini, one hot tea with our meal, a total of $120 later, we still left the restaurant hungry.

In addition, it took us 2.5 hours to finish our meal. It was clear that our waitress was overwhelmed today. I have a lot of sympathy and gratitude for this lady for serving us, she was both the waitress and the busboy today. I truly appreciated her hard work. At the same time, I was discouraged by the amount of time we waited for our food to arrive at our table this afternoon.

Google reviews show that Tria is well-received and it offers excellent foods and services for its customers. I believe that the negative experience we had today was simply caused by the unexpected holiday crowd. I would be curious to find out what Tria has to offer on a more regular day next time I’m in the neighborhood.

Picked up a friend at the airport and she suggested we eat here.
A wonderful recommendation! She had the chicken pot pie which was excellent with plenty of leftovers. I had the chicken Francese which I ate the whole thing. It was so good I will order the next time I go. We also went the 2nd time she came back we went for Thanksgiving and it was a perfect experience. I love the bread basket and the seeded crackers. The photos are not the best because everyone started eating before I took the photos. Large comfortable restaurant with a European feel. Comfortable seating with large and well placed selection of tables and booths. I ordered pecan pie to go and it had a chocolate drizzle on top. I’ve only had without. I liked that it tastes like a candy bar.
We will be back as there are very few good quality restaurants left in MN. This is a gem!

Finally made it to Tria last night for a post birthday celebration. We are not coming back. Ambience and service were ok. The food were disappointment. Lack of flavor from the overpriced appetizers to the main dishes we ordered. I ordered salmon that sat on top of a poleta cake which was un-edible at all. Not a picky eater at all and love anything made from corn/grit. The salmon was one of those 2oz cut previously frozen you can buy from the refrigerated section at Walmart. The sauce and the cucumber salad garnish did not went well of the overall flavor of the entire dish. My companion order ribeye eye served with a glob of risotto that looks over cooked with a texture like uncooked rice. The $55 steak was ok but not comparable you get from other steakhouses.

We went to try this again after being underwhelmed before. We were greeted by the wonderful service and very delighted with the table. We took the suggestion of Halibut and Lamb.
The calamari we order was fantastic, very flavorful. The fish came out inedible, and underdone as well as the lamb. Everything looked good but I felt uncomfortable even asking to send things back.
I really wish it turned out different, but I think for the extreme price of nearly 50 per plate, this was my last time here.
