We have been interested in driving out from Ely on one of our visits and are happy we did yesterday. This is a unique place to enjoy a good meal.
Kayla was our server, and despite having much to do, she was helpful, friendly and attentive.
Food was good and hearty. The atmosphere is iconic and fun. Well worth the scenic drive.

When you walk in a place and they tell you they close in 20 minutes, yet you feel welcomed and cared for, you know you have to come back. We did the next day and it was so worth it. Great food and better service, this is a special place and it’s such a unique building. Change your plans to fit their hours, you will be happy you did. I always appreciate a place that knows their customers and set their open hours to create a working business model that will last.

This is a must stop if you are in the area. Some day I will find out why they have Bushmill’s Irish Whiskey instead of Jameson (or maybe that was just the last time I was there? May update review after this weekend). Not upset about it though! Great food. Amazing staff. Great ambiance. Always excited about another trip in that direction!

It’s a destination stop in God’s country. I ordered potato skins and was surprised they weren’t the typical bar type but made from scratch. They were delish but not as expected.
My husband ordered a salad and it was top notch. Fresh ingredients, spring mix. Highly recommend.

We had to travel miles and miles on gravel roads to get here, but it was totally worth it. Such a great atmosphere. The place was packed on a Saturday night and had such a good vibe – warm, cozy, and very local.
The food was decent. Beer cheese soup was lukewarm, but had good flavor. Typical bar fare.
Definitely worth the trip if you’re looking for an authentic, less touristy dinner.

We were staying in tofte, about half an hour away, so we decided to check it out. Good burgers, nice people doing the work. Decent beer selection, bar pours too. Took some work to build the place. Cool history. Bring your cash, no cc. I love that. If you are close, give it a go. Cool place. It’s out there.

Well I took the last of their good horse radish. They were out of pickled eggs and pickled gizzards. I will replenish all three my next trip up.
Well they had top shelf Schmidt beer though. It’s hard to find these days. I had the trainwreck burger again with CASUALTIES. Try it if you have the nerve. From the Good Looking Redneck Farm Boy. Fun in the Sun!

If you happen to find yourself in the wilds of Minnesota, be sure to check out this wonderful place. Trust me, you will think you are lost by the time you find it, but when you step inside you will immediately know you are among friends.
Free of the touristy crowds of Ely, this place has some amazing food and a full bar.
