This is an historic, circa late 1800s hotel, restaurant and bar. The food menu changes several times a week. If you plan to have dinner with a group you should call and make reservations. Since the meals are made from scratch, they need to know how many people are coming. They also have hamburgers and their famous Walnut Burgers. Reservations are not needed for burgers.

We did not have dinner, just drinks and bar food. Our server was very nice but way over worked. She was so busy that she did not have time to talk with her quests. With all that she was doing I believe two employees didn’t show up for work. Some evenings the Trempealeau Hotel has live music performances and is an excellent place to stop for a drink and chill out with locals.

We loved our visit. Dinner was topnotch. The butternut squash soup To Die For. Ambience was absolutely lovely. Our server was great. Live music enjoyable. We also stayed nextdoor in a luxury suite. Amazing river view location. Don’t miss the sunset. A few misses in the room, flat pillows and a lack of hot water for the tub, but not enough to make it a bad time.

This restaurant is such a hidden gem! The food was amazing! I love how the menu changes daily and all the options are fun and unique. Most of the seating is along the windows with beautiful views of the river as well! We loved the strawberry rhubarb pie Highly recommend eating dinner here!

This restaurant is definitely a “destination” for dinner. A little expensive but worth every penny. Had an absolutely superb pork chop with braised brussel sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes. The chicken pot pie was done to perfection with a flaky crust top. Our dinner was preceded by a stupendous flat bread appetizer.
We did not have any dessert since we were full, but the desserts looked out of this world and the recipients reaction to their first bite was priceless. You won’t want to miss a chance to eat here if you have the opportunity. Staff were great and the whole place was very clean.
We will be back with out-of-state company as we show them some of Wisconsin’s finest.

Truly my favorite restaurant in the whole dang county. Amazing food (great vegetarian options, wonderful service, and a lovely atmosphere. I’ve been here three times and everyone has loved what they got each time. Plus it’s right next to the Mississippi, so you get lovely views as you eat your wonderful food!

My husband and I went here over the weekend. Definitely one of the best meals I’ve ever had! The service was great and the food was even better. We tried the Walnut Balls and they were pretty good. It was like walnuts and stuffing formed into a ball. The homemade honey mustard that came with them was amazing. I also had the chicken and rice soup and it was delicious. For my entree, I had the shrimp and gnocchi and I am still telling my husband about how fabulous it was. He ordered the meatloaf and I tried some and I couldn’t decide which dish was better! I have nothing bad to say about this place and if I am ever in Trempealeau again, I know where I am going to eat.

The atmosphere, location, and history is incredible. The live music is such an added treat. The service here is absolutely terrible, they serve food when they feel like it as far as I can tell (tonight, for example, they say a large table after we were already there drinking, so when we asked to order food they said “no, we can’t make any more food we have a big table so it’s closed for a while”) it’s very bazaar, last time we were there it was some other reason, too many people? It’s weird and just not a reliable place if you’re planning to eat. The main server, she is also a peach

I was blown away by the quality of the food and drinks at Trempealeau Hotel. It’s far better than I expected to find in a town this size. It felt like I was visiting an old resort, stuck in time, but with modern food options. My partner and I started with a drink outdoors under a large tent—a perfect spot to enjoy one of the last warm days of the season. We moved inside to share three starters—catfish cakes; a lovely green salad with grapes, apple, chèvre and pecans; and a delicious flatbread. We finished with apple pie and ice cream (also shared). We love that much of the food is locally sourced. Our server was delightfully efficient, yet fun. My only complaint was that the chair seats are too high for my short legs and it became very uncomfortable after a few minutes. Still, I wish continued success for this venue. It’s a gem!

Now, if you’re hankerin’ for a place where the beer’s colder than a banker’s heart, then the Trempealeau Hotel is where you wanna be. Those walnut balls? Well, they’re a treat you won’t forget—kinda like your first love, but crunchier. And the view of the mighty Mississippi? It’s hands-down the best you’ll find anywhere. You can sit back, relax, and watch that river roll by like it’s been doin’ for centuries, just the way it oughta be. No need for fancy talk or big city flair—this here’s the real deal.
